*BROWN PRIDE*
Northern Mexico is ready for the NAU, but Southern Mexico ( Chiapas, Oaxaca, Yucatan, Tabasco, Guerrero, Quintana Roo ) need more development.
I am Mexican-American and I've been in three countries. Best climate, best foods, friendliest people are in Mexico.
The phrase "Si Se Puede" was coined by activist Cesar Chavez.
Ironically he was Anti-Illegal immigration. Chavez was a union man and Illegals were "scabs" to his union rights strikes.
Mr. Chavez had a strong working relationship with the Yuma, Az. Sector Border Patrol, and often called them to report Illegal alien activity.
Well Mexico wants open borders - America wants closed, and smart borders.
We don't need Mexico's ideas of comprehensive reforms - because America already has her laws regarding the issue. And America needs to get tougher on those issues and enforce our laws on the books already. More laws to deal with the laws are not the answer.
If it takes an American military border to get our point across -then so be it.
No super highways, and No North American Union, and Integration.
America has always been an English speaking country since the European immigrants came here legally, and registered everyone at Ellis Island. Being a Native American - I've learned to accept this and deal with this. It is not a problem for me. Others who come here should not only learn the language of English, but should not expect Americans or America to accommodate them by being forced to learn any other language. It has always been that when one comes from another country, they must know English by reading, writing, and understanding the language. No other country will put up with accommodating others languages - why should they (Americans)?
Exactly what diversity does Mexico have. Not much that I have known. America has the diversity of many people of different nationalities. Still if you are expecting America and Americans to bow to your ways on the language issue - it isn't going to happen. Sorry!!
You are expected to assimilate to the host country of which you are in. Just as others must do so in yours. And this is not just Americas policies. It is other countries around the world. Get over it.
Quin'a month'ee (How are you?) Komeekha (come in, be at home) But come legally, learn English, pay your fair share of the taxes, pay your own way in America, stop draining the American system, stop blaming America and Americans for your peoples, and Mexicos mishaps, problems, and situations. And stop trying to change America, and Americans. Especially if you can't, haven't. or aren't willing to change or make a difference in your own country to make it better for the Mexican people.
Native American
The phrase originally gained fame as slogan by Cesar Chavez. It means "Yes, we can."
He meant it as encouragement for migrant workers who were truly and legally striving to become citizens.
Now, it has corrupted into a slogan for illegals to use to say they claim rights they are untitled to.
Legal latino immigrants use it as a phrase to encourage their
endeavors to truly integrate and accomplish educational and economic goals.
Cesar Chavez opposed illegal immigration. In his wisdom, he knew it only brought problems for the ones here legally.
Shame on you for not understanding a part of history related to your own culture.
You can have all that and more, but maybe you and yours need to return to Mexican to get it. Why not use all your energy and hard working people to remake your home country into something were your people do not have to risk life and limb to come here. How would you like it if we Americans came to your country and tried to remake it for our benefit and then bragged that we are not going to give up anything form our language to our bringing all our friends and relatives.
