Illegal immigrants are NOT all criminals, they're just people who are coming into this country to find a better life for themselves and their families. and uummm, wasn't that OUR justification for coming to America in the first place.
I love that "breaking into a house" analogy most people make , because it just supports the fact that we are criminals ourselves. We came to an inhabited land and completely took over, kicking Indians (and Mexicans themselves when we expanded west) out. Just because we draft up a few documents saying that a certain piece of land is ours (and have guns to intimidate people into accepting it)- it doesn't mean we own it.
Native Americans and Mexicans were here LONG before anyone else- Who are the REAL trespassers.
What about when you tear down a tree filled with colonies of ants, birds nests filled with babies, and squirrels, in order to build a condominium or Wall Mart. Aren't you taking away that land from creatures who already staked their claim over it.

First of all, I don't support illegal anything..They don't have the rights as citizens, but they are entitled to human rights.That is they shouldn't be subjected to human trafficking, prostitution, slavery etc..And if you don't think this exists, it does..I also don't support the mistreatment of illegals because they don't have rights in this country.Coming to this country is a misdemeanor.A misdemeanor, or misdemeanour, in many common law legal systems, is a "lesser" criminal act. Misdemeanors are generally punished less severely than felonies; but theoretically more so than administrative infractions (also known as regulatory offenses). Saying illegals are criminals is like saying Paris Hilton is a criminal, after all she broke the law several times, no one believes that..We need to change our immigration laws to suit the current climate.We have an aging population and a low fertility rate in this country, to deny immigrants from coming here is counter productive and will eventually hurt our country.

The crime is not always the person. I believe all immigration should happen through legal channels and that illegal immigrants should be processesed humanely so they either have a path to citizenship or are deported. I think the kind of immigration Bush is talking about makes sense; longtime residents who are here illegally have a path to citizenship as long as they pay taxes, a penalty, have no criminal record, and learn English. Others, who have not been here long, or don't meet the criteria set out, are deported.
I'm sympathetic to the reasons behind illegal immigration (better life, supporting a family, uniting a family). And I think US immigration law needs to be adjusted to accomodate some kind of guest worker program - as long as it's clear the guests are not taking jobs from Americans.
The "amnesty with criteria" plan of Bush's should take care of the 12 million here now. A Guest worker program and Employer culpability for hiring illegals will prevent the same thing from happening again.

I do feel sorry for them, but I don't think that it is fair for people who got here illegally to have the same rights as actual citizens of the US, there are people here who came to the US legally but are not citizens yet, why should the illegal be first?

is that they do all the dirty and cheap work, they are doing the work no one would want to do..(I don't agree, but this is off topic)

The US has a big problem.it keeps interfering with other countries or bothering problems OUTSIDE of the US. Of course the US needs to interact with the outside world, but .
If the US did not attack Iraq, and used the money for its own people, I'm sure it would be much better for the whole country. But I'm speaking as someone who is in the US but not a citizen...(dad's a diplomat from ROC)
I really can't think why people here would support illegal immigrants to have the same rights as actual citizens of the US when people who got here legally don't and when people in the US are suffering, spend your time and money on your own country, help the poor people who are US people before you support illegal immigrants.

The only reasons they have so many supporters is they MAKE THEM! Giggity git! Really though, I came here legally and waited 18 years for my citizenship, and I'm only 22 years old. We're paying for their welfare with our social security. Yes, they are coming here for a better life, but is the Mexican president hunting them down and trying to kill them? California alone has a enormous need for farm workers, and i dont see others waking up at 4 a.m. to go 2 work, for 9 to 10 hrs a day, with few if any breaks.

I am third generation in my Hispanic/White family. My great grandmother came here and got citizenship the LEGAL way ! ! I'm a hispanic aged 32, work for a furniture store and we have had a couple of white and blacks hired and have not done the job. Why? ,,, It seemed they had never had a job or their brain trained.
When it comes to unloading the ovesees containers, they quit because it is so hot to unload those thihgs in the middle of the day.
Saying we will do the jobs you white/black won't do is not a crap/bullshit. Have you been around and seen it? only then you will realize the truth.
