Is it a good thing or a bad thing that a landlord who rents to ILLEGAL aliens are fined $500?
Answer:
They should confiscate the property. There's a place down the road from where I work that has a dozen or more cars and trucks parked out in front each morning. It's a small house, maybe 1,100 sq/ft at the most. Do you think it's just an American family with 25 visitors from Wisconsin?
Good thing. If we make it impossible for them to live or work here maybe they will stop coming.
it is a GOOD thing
It's a GREAT thing... no safe harbors for criminals!
He should be prosecuted, but what it boils down to is that, our government and leaders don't want to offend the Illegals, but what will happen, I see it everywhere Americans, especially those in Texas are getting fed up with our government, and soon there will be changes, in the whole system.
what are you suggesting to put this ppl on the streets and then more crime to come with that , not good if you want to end the immigration problem use your common sense .,, BE WISE for Christ sake. man
and then those landlords who are making truckloads of money will be so happy to accept just because you said it ,
we are watching and we will proveil.
so what, anybody now renting property is a de facto government agent? cool. does this mean i no longer have to pay taxes to finance an immigration and naturalization service? or am i supposed to do their work for them? how much is the government going to pay me to go prying around in everybodies business?
Well, after getting kicked out of rentals, the illegals can turn themselves in to Border Patrol or ICE and they can go home.
It is unconstitutional! The constitution requires the GOVERNMENT to enforce the law - not private citizens. This 'passing the buck' of law enforcement to the private sector is outrageous. In fact, it smacks of government enforced vigilantism.
Apartment owners are NOT law enforcement officers and the government should not try to make them into such.
They should be fined $50,000.00 per illegal. That would end this.
Yes, and they should be put on box car with the illegal aliens heading south to ole mececo (mexico). I am sick of paying for the education, medical, property tax for a people who pay none of these
I think it is STUPID. Landlords should not be the ones who have to figure out who's illegal and who's not. This is just the government trying to get someone else to do their job for them. The INS should be out checking people's papers, and not waiting for a bunch of landlords to do it.
this bill was passed by the voter by 70 percent. of course the aclu and other pro-illegal organizations feel this a country of the lawyers, by the lawyers and for the lawyers. this bill does not ask the landlords to enforce the law. they only have to get identification, social security number etc. turn it over to authorities and the authorities check it out, find out if these are read or falsified documents. the the authorities follow up. the landlord is responsible for only gathering the info on the documents, if they do not make an attempt to get this information then they would be fined. there are also other exceptions in case of some hardships like old age etc. so it isnt the horrible law that some people would like to portray. i wonder how much the ACLU and other such organization get as a percentage when they do win these class action suits. dont take their word for the these laws entail.
I think it is a GOOD thing.
Although I think the fine should be higher.
If you want to live in America for God's sakes, do it the legal way.
It's an awesome thing, actually. I mean look at their demands. They want citizenship, they want medical care, they want welfare and all they do is sit on their behinds, eat, and sleep. Think about it, the money for our social security will be depleted in I think 10 years because we're paying for these guys.
Here's a little story. I came to the United States from a communist Southeast Asia country legally. Why did I come? Well, my family was dodging and running for bullets from a bunch of AK47's. Was I able to "cross" a border? No. From that country, we went to the Philippines where we worked for a US Missionary to earn the money for a plane ticket for six months and for a letter to support our immigration to the States.
That was in 1987. I was only 3 then, we started our papers for citizenship. I went to school and graduated in May of 2003. In June of that year, I was in basic training, in the Army. At the age of 21, I finally received my citizenship after serving in the military.
If they want to walk off the job to show how much they impact our economy, why don't we just not give them a job, any American benefits (welfare, Medicaid, etc.) and see how much they effects their standard of living. Work for your right to come and work for your right to live. A $500 fine is a blessing to the landlords. Let's get a bunch of Feds out there and wait for them to say "I'm an illegal and I VOTE!"
It's a great thing. Take away their homes, jobs, freebies and maybe they'll go home.
It is a good thing, but I think it should be more is a landlord willingly rents to an illegal.
AWESOME!!! but the fine should be higher.
It is a great thing. There are a few idiots out there who want to claim that they are making landlords do the government's job but that is just an excuse. Evey landlord out there has a 20 page application that you fill out before they will rent to you. They want to know who you are, what your credit history is like, etc etc.
It is already against the law for them to aid and abet an illegal alien per the Immigration and control act of 1986. They know that the person they are renting to is illegal, they just want to feign ignorance. Well since when was ignorance an excuse for breaking the law?
They should be fined more than that in my opinion!!! I would even support them losing their property for it!
it's a great thing. No amnesty for illegals.
A good thing. It is ONE way to combat the law breakers.
It is a great thing. BUT the fine should be much higher!
