Question regarding housing in the UK?
Answer:
without a doubt, our own should come first. Why is it our politicians and P.C. minority feel that our responsibility is to others before our own. No other country put foreigners before their own.
Someone please tell them that.
yes
I think the government should focus on keep the immigrants out in the first place!
There are also about 300,000 coucil properties NOT being used, yet the government are taking privately owned homes (that havn't been inhabited for 6 months) off owners to give to immigrants!!!!!
Yes lets take care of our own people first, ram-it and jam-it second.
The ******* pakis shouldn't be here in the first place! And now the polish are taking all our ******* money!
**** THEM!
Yes
Worse still, council houses are reserved just for the POSSIBILITY of immigrant arrivals.
We need these clowns out of government pronto!
yes but how can they house people when they are selling off all the council places and not buliding more?, soon there wont be any
Yes - keep voting in the current governments and you'll have no choice.
i totally agree with private ! the goverment is a joke !
I used to work as a Homelessness Officer and it's not quite so black and white as your question implies.
Firstly...I used to turn away a large number of immigrants (far more than I ever housed). Contrary to popular belief they do not just waltz into our country and get given a house.
The majority had to prove their eligibility (i won't get into all the legal waffle here) and provide substantial PROOF they had no alternative.
With regard to the "British" homeless...many who are not given help are described as "Intentionally Homeless". This means they are homeless due to their own actions...such as deliberately not paying rent and being evicted, leaving accommodation (for no particular reason) which was suitable for occupation...the list goes on.
It also depends WHERE people apply as Homeless. For example if someone in Scotland suddenly goes to London and applies to a London Authority as being homeless. The London homelessness officer will tell them to go back to Scotland as they have "No local connection" to the London area.
This is just a small snippet of the process...!
Don't get me wrong...I don't want all the immigrants in our country either...I just think many of the opinions above are very misguided.
Polish people are generally very hard workers and even highly intelligent ones with degree etc will come over here and work as a cleaner. Why don't fat slob dole scroungers get off their *** and do this job? Answer = because they probably think they are above cleaning or "menial" tasks as such!
********
And also....what gives anyone the right to sit back and think they deserve a council house?
I'm 23 years old and work my butt off to rent and save for a deposit to buy my own house. Too many people in this country think everything should be handed to them on a plate!
If anything...I think the hardworking immigrants coming in will give all the lazy sods of our country the shock they deserve!
The most discriminated group of all are single white males. The highest group who rely on homeless hostels for accommodation. Not all have made themselves "intentionally homeless". Think of all those men who are divorced and kicked out of the family home.
Immigrants who are housed are put in properties that the social services take over and control. No more houses are built to house them, the number of available houses decrease for the indigenous population.
So yes, all British people should be housed first. To use the argument of a previous writer, if a person moves from Scotland to London and is told to go home, why can't they say that to the person from wherever they have CLAIMED to have come from?.Nine times out of ten they do have a home, in Poland, Iraq, Somalia etc.
Unfortunately this government is blind to our needs.
The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, was adopted to protect human rights and fundamental freedoms. It provides that everyone's right to life shall be protected by law. No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment...
All the Contracting States (with the exception of Ireland and Norway), have incorporated the Convention into their own law, enabling the domestic judiciary to take full account of its provisions when considering a grievance. Police brutality would not exist if it were not for the UN Convention. Those who suffer discrimination would have no recourse. People who are subjected to slavery, brutality and worse, would have no-where to turn.
If the UK were to close it's borders, i for one, would find it rather less easy to sleep at night.
What is needed is better control by those who regulate access to the UK's public services, not laying blame on the doorstep of those who come to the UK asking for help.
You cant blame it all on immigrants . where i live there isnt even one immigrant but al the good areas have 10 -15 year waiting lists .Its down to the government selling council housing and not building more .so the tennents in the best areas took advantage and and those on the crap estates didn`t bother
so guess what you get if you only wait for a couple of years
Well said kenygurl.
In the early 80's Maggie Thatcher sold all the 100's of thousands of council houses and at the time everybody was predicting this day. It is not the immigrants fault that people were able to buy a good house in a good area for £8000 in 1980 ( I am talking about a house near Fareham in the South East) I sold a non council house nearby for £18000.
The govt. are now expected to replace those houses at today's prices.
TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This government is a total f**k up, look after your own first.
ive said that for years,
have you ever seen a homeless immigrant,??
yet you walk around any british city, and see all white people homeless,
this countries attitude to immigrants stinks,
think i should paint my self comes back to the country plead asylum and see what i get,i can bet you it will be alot more than i have now..
Hi, Yes the government should be looking after the British homeless, we should look after our own first.
