Mexican Immigrants? Let me rephrase.?
Consider:
1) Mexican's are descendents of the Spanish. The Spanish came from Spain, which is in Europe.
2) Mexican's speak Spanish, which is a European language.
3) Mexican's are largely Christain. Roman Catholic 76.5%, Protestant 6.3% (Pentecostal 1.4%.) (See reference)
So, Mexican's are a threat to our "traditional" American culture? Hmmm, they are descended from Europe, speak a European language, and practice Christianity.
Oh no, we'd better run for the hills.

hey johnny! i live in Arizona where the problem is pretty bad, it's a law, they worry about the Mexicans so much because they are passing over the border illegally, not filling in the papers and what not, we don't have much of a problem with that with Europe and other countries, as far as i know, anyway, it's not about the people or their culture much it's that their passing ilegally

What actually happens is that once someone gets a green card or becomes a citizen, they get a 'preference' to pull in family. 3+ million were given amnesty in 1986, the majority of whom were from Mexico, and the majority of whom were poor and had poor families. It is their families getting visas now, not a preference for strawberry pickers over electrical engineers.

My thoughts are that mexicans will turn the story into anything at all just to get their way. First it was "poor families just looking for a better life," but then the immigration bill failed. Then it was "but we are aztlan, you STOLE our land," but then 2 million more Americans joined the Minutemen. Now you're going for "but we're part European,too!" My concern on ANY illegals from ANY country is the impact to the social system like schools, welfare, hospitals, jails. The left has an agenda to get these folks in because the majority of new immigrants tend to vote dem.. its a proven fact.
The illegal drain the country of precious tax dollars thru the increased cost of social services. The MYTH that they pay taxes is just that.. a myth. Its been researched and documented many times.. yahoo search for it. Most work under the counter for cash and wire the majority of those funds back home. For example, Mexico's 2nd source of income, other than oil, is western union funds back home. You only need to go to the border states and research the fiscal health of the hospitals and social services. They are closing down hospitals due to the issue. If they were paying taxes, this would not be the case. We only need to go back a decade or two to graph out the increase in illegals and the detriment to our country.
I am not against immigration.. most of America is populated with immigrants BUT when you come here, you need to assimilate and come here properly. We need to lock down our borders and make sure folks from ALL countries can immigrate here under a controlled flow. If we offer amnesty to the law breakers.. its NOT FAIR to those who have followed the law and waitied like you are suppose to. If we reward crime, we will continue to see a decay in our country.

To some people above: is because you only inmigrate the ignorant low class mexicans, you never ever give green cards to mexicans whit a university degree, I'm a electronic Engineer, my father is a Doctor, all my brothers are also engineers and accountants and lawyers, and we have being waiting for green card for more than 15 years in Mexico, but if we where ignorants and whit a body like a standing frog and a head like a big cube sure you have had long ago given us a green card, my grandfather lived in usa since 13, there was born my aunt and my father was born in Nogales Mexico, you only want mexican, but from low class to be slaves.

The whites are really the rich elite spanish blood Mexicans. MOST OF THE ILLEGALS ARE brown skin Indios from Mexico or further south. The white Mexicans hate them and want them to come to the USA. This has been affirmed by brown Mexicans.
Legal Mexican immigrants are not the issue here at all regardless of the ancestry! We all fear, and should, the illegals destroying our economy, schools, medical facilities, our identities, fraud, forgery, customs and even our national security. Terrorist are inventive. They find open spots to attack. They were able to make those bombs because the English was not watching the professional immigrants as much. If we don't watch our borders on both sides, they could hire mexicans or any other race to help smuggle stuff through our borders. We can't just focus in on one group. We get tunnel vision and not see the various other attacks that might occur.
As for the Mexican culture, First spanish culture is not the same as ours. Ironically spanish culture is partially based on Muslim culture. Second , Mexican culture evolve a different direction from the Spanish base. We also evolve away from our English heritage.
As for Midcenturydesigner's comment. (refering to illegal immigrants) Yes they add money in to oir social security, but thats only one aspect of taxes. They take more from other areas. EVEN IF ALL of them pay taxes, and that they cost as much as an AMerican citizen, we would be losing money for having them here. The poor never paid their share in taxes. THey were always carried by the middle class. They do add certain extra cost in mantaining our city. Their children cost more to educate, because of the language barrier. They do add health care cost. I was told by a public health employee that in parts of California, they are the main cause of TB. Because they're hiding , it cost more to track and stomp out the disease. They generate more cost, because they continue to spread it to others. We also need to add more translators for various service for them.
