Immigration from the Uk to the US?

My friend would like to immigrate from the UK to the US, has anyone here done so in the last few years? And what are the legal requirements to do so?
Serious answers only plz, any rude remarks will be reported.

Answer:
Have your friend go to the American consulate in the UK. They will give them all the " Correct" information. Do not rely on what you get from this site. Trust me on this.
Go to the Consulate or the USCIS website. The time it will take and the paperwork required will depend on how your friend is trying to immigrate (work visa, fiance visa, family sponsorship, etc.). Go straight to the source for your information otherwise it could be wrong and that will cost time, more money and possibly mess things up enough to prevent it all together. My husband came here from the UK on a fiance visa so we could get married. After doing all the research we found it would be faster and better (at least for us) if we got the fiance visa, he moved here and we got married here as opposed to getting married then trying to bring him here. It is too important to follow bad or outdated information...check with the Consulate or USCIS directly.
