You should apply as early as possible as it is more expensive to fast track an application.
The passport office tries to process applications in around three weeks from when they arrive at their office. This does not include postage time and applications can take longer at busy times.

If you need your passport within two weeks you should call the 24-hour Passport Adviceline 0870 521 0410 to make an appointment. They offer a Fast Track one week service or a Premium same-day service.
