I'm permanent resident and I want to go out of USA.Do I need a re-entry permit when I come back USA ?
Answer:
No, you don't need a re-entry permit if you have your green card.
Re-entry permits are for those who are in the process of getting their green card.
Anyway, when you go overseas, you need your passport, and when you enter the US, you just need to show your green card.
they say you dont but my husband went and never was well come back i have to go to mexico to get him now
You need a passport.
If traveling by auto No, if flying over-seas U will need a passport.
Your resident alien card is proof to immigration that you are in the country legally and they should'nt give you any greif about coming back into the country. I would check with ICE and see if you still don't need your country of origin passport to travel. Could be a bit of a speed bump since you probably had to surrender it to get your green card in the first place. good luck
You are free to come and go as you please. However, you are subject to two restrictions:
1. There is a time restriction but I think it is more like a year. Three weeks is OK.
2. You can still be refused entry when you come back in.
auto no ...flying you need a passport
my husband didnt, he just needed his greencard, but be sure to have your country's passport as well since it is now required. If you are still worried about it, the best thing to do would be to go to your closest immigration building and ask them.
You will need your green card and your current passport. You shouldnt have any problems returning to the US.
Enjoy your trip.
