To become citizens, they'd go to the end of the line behind those who've already applied.
Under a new merit plan, points would be given for work skills and language: The more points, the faster they can become citizens.
And everyone — even U.S. citizens — would have to prove who they are when applying for a job.
The bottom line: An illegal immigrant here today could remain in the U.S., but would wait 13 years for citizenship.

I wonder how many people on this board can even comprehend how impossible it would be to round up 12 million people and ship them back to Mexico. It would be an act on par with the Nazi "final solution" in terms of how many people it would displace.
America is a nation of immigrants, you need to understand that those here now will not just up and leave if we tell them, and we cannot just round them up and ship them out. It doesn't work that way.
Be realistic, amnesty and tighter border controls are what we need to do, not draconian "throw them all out" measures, which, quite frankly, would be impossible to pull off.

I dont trust the government to secure the border before doing anything like this. Their track record sucks.If its not secured then it will be just like the last amnesty. Set up detention camps near rail road tracks. Then load the criminals on trains and drop them off at the Mexican border.
An Arizona sherrif has has a lot of success with hiring citizens to round up illegal aliens.

Don't be a hater! Illegal aliens are not responsible for all of America's problem and neither are any other minority. It should be just as unacceptable to express prejudice for Illegal immigrants as it is for any other group.
