How does it work if Canadian citizen give birth for a child in other country?
Answer:
I will answer this in a different way. There are 2 ways to become an automatic citizen of a country. Jus soli or right of soil, meaning you get the citizenship of the country where you were born. The other is jus sanguinis or right of blood. This means you also get the nationality of your parents. So technically, a child can have as many as 3 nationalities at birth. An example is a child born in the UK to an American father and a Canadian mother. The child is American, Canadian and British. But you do have to register their birth.
So to your question, yes the kid can be Canadian and/or the nationality of the country he was born.**
Yes!
Yes the child is still a Canadian citizen, but the birth needs to be registered with the Canadian consulate or embassy nearest to where you live.
