The immigration bill?

Do any one think this immigration bill really dead because some senators say it can come back alive, and pass in the senate and house, to give amnesty to these illegals especially if bush forces them to press on.

Answer:
I hope that Bush will not press the issue, I think that they will ignore him if he does. We the people have to keep calling and e-mailing our reps in Washington to make sure that they do not give Amnesty to illegals.
It's not dead. They are angry that the American public didn't sheepishly follow the bill through, so it's just back to the drawing board, so they can more deceptively word it so that they can trick us into voting it in next time.

Be vigilant, people, be vigilant.
Silly "gringos" this bill is just another smoke screen until next years elections. It'll be back and forth, lots of barking and once a president is elected, immigration would be the same "non-problem" that has been for the past 50 or 60 years.
Unfortunately, I do not believe this bill is dead. Although, my feelings are to enforce the laws already on the books our Senators and Congressmen and women and Bush will eventually get their way despite the way the American people feel.
They want to bring it back alive and already have a 'list of amendments' which would be the only ones allowed. However, I don't know if they will a) have time to bring it up (I'm not sure Reid wants Bush to succeed in his domestic goals) or b) get enough votes for cloture. We have to keep letting them know where we stand. Some of those amendments they rejected like letting some felons and gang members stay, and not making employers pay for at least high deductible health insurance for workers on the new 'guest worker program' are outrageous. They also voted down making the visa exit tracking system a requirement before the guest worker program goes into effect, even though the time mandated by law for the visa exit tracking system has already come and gone. They cut the fence and required border patrol under current law in half and call it 'enhancing border security' because they never followed the law to build the fence required so, hey, if they do it, it would be more than we have now. They also voted down an amendment that would have banned sanctuary cities where police aren't allowed to ask about immigration status.

And they wonder why we don't 'trust them' on enforcement and border security.
I have no doubt it will reappear in the middle of the night with just enough senator to make quorum to pass it. I wish the senators were as concerned about our pocketbooks as they are about the illegals welfare
I think Bush is urging them to "press on" because he wants to keep Congress occupied with this issue rather than the issue on which it should be concentrating--namely, the war in Iraq. He knows that immigration is a conundrum that they can argue about until Doomsday, which might come sooner than we think if we don't get out of Iraq.
I'm glad that it is down for now but unfortunately it will appear again. And again we must react to fight it down. This bill is unfair to Americans and immigrants.
