Can any immigration policy work without stiff penalties for illegal employers?
Bush wants to waste our tax money, that these illegal employers aren't paying into, by building a fence that the illegals will continue to climb over, under and around as long as the business owners continue to provide them jobs.
The only way to stop foreigners from entering America illegally is to jail the people that provide them the economic incentive to come here in the first place.
ARREST ANYONE THAT EMPLOYS AN ILLEGAL.
Call your congressman to tell them that the only way to stop illegal immigration is by jailing the employers that provide them with jobs that Americans could be working.
Answer:
Here is the problem as I see it. Immigrants are always going to be part of the American future but currently there are possibly 12 million undocumented, or so called illegals and that is about 4% of our popullation. So to just flat out give them amnesty would be a big strain even on our great nation. imagine the strain on our health system because these folks have no jobs and no insurance. it would nearly bankrupt our the health care industry. You know what they say to much of anything will kill you.
Here is how to fix our immigration problem:
Number 1. First and foremost fix the leak in the bucket and seal our borders. Integrate data sharing among law enforcement agencies. Fix the loop holes in the visa programs.
Number 2. I think mass expulsions are in order here. I know it sounds cruel but sometimes one needs to be cruel to be kind. Expel a good number and then others will leave voluntarily. How to do this easy. Make sure as I said above information integrating data is put in government office computers, everywhere from squad cars, motor vehicle departments, to welfare offices. If someone is illegal it should be known. Secondly put a "Snitch program in place" were if some one reports an illegal they get a $100 bird-dog fee. Then check the snitch's record you know what they say "tell me who your friends are and i'll tell you who you are".
Number 3. This is the final clean-up phase. Offer the remaining illegals a free couch ticket home or the nightmare of being caught and arrested and then deported. And instead of labelling them as forcibly deported, we would put on the records as voluntary deportation and they would be eligible for future visas with less restrictions and time periods waits as forced deportations.
If this does not fix the our 'brokEN immigRATION SYSTEM" as John Kerry calls it and I don't know what will.
I myself am a liberal and a supporter of amnesty but not to all 12 million. Possibly 2 million and others need to return to their country and try to come in legal ways. I know this sounds cruel and not that long ago I supported anmesty for all but I have met a few people that live basically in hell due to their illegal status and they are from Albania. These people would have a better life in Albania. And I'm sure this not just the case with Albanians but with Mexicans, Indians, Chinese and so on.
Here is one person's story.
I met a beautiful young woman of 26 with a child of 5. She was beautiful and easily could have been a model or actress but instead was working in a restaurant the night shift for $3 an hour while her son was neglected sleeping in different baby sitters homes with drug addicts. She come to the US when she was a teenagers right after high school with false papers, she decided to get married and soon did to a non-Albanian man twice her age who was involved with some criminal activities and was shot to death leaving her to fend for son alone. She than drifted from one part of the country to the next, sometimes exchanging sexual favors for money or a dwelling. When I met her it was a restaurant and a man was yelling at here and was ready to beat her up and she was crying, he was yelling at her and telling her that she gave him the clap. I put a stop on it and told him "didn't your mother ever tell you not to talk to women like that', he was a wuss and walked away. I was ready to kick his azz.
I got to talking with her and I really felt sorry for her. I sent her to a doctor for a check up because she had not seen a doctor since her son was born, I payed for it of course and then I offered her and her son a one way ticket to Albania where her family was since she had no family here. She accepted but when time came for me to pick her up and send her to the travel agency to purchase the ticket she had disappeared. I never saw her again.
Now people like this should not be in the US. They are doing nothing productive for themselfs or America. Sorry to say this but it is the truth.
Sure. Truly secure the border, give amnesty to illegals whose only crime is crossing illegally, and raise the annual legal quota allowed from Mexico. It's the federal govt's job to stop the illegals. Blame them and not the employers for this mess.
You are right and Bush knows it, but try to get him to do the right thing. Fat chance.
By the way, what's a Chris Benoit?
The only way to stop illegal aliens is to enforce the laws we currently have on the books. They get ignored now, what the hell makes them think that any new laws will get followed. I will accept NO amnesty at all, and enforcement of the laws on the books today, along with more border security.
Nothing is going to work until they start arresting and deporting all the illegals in this country. The employers who hire them should be jailed and fined. And securing the border with orders to shoot the people who are crossing the border illegally!
That's how we fix this immigration problem.
I agree in principle. I can't blame any immigrant who crosses the border looking for a better life for their families. Who wouldn't do the same? You are correct in pointing the finger at the businessmen who hire them. They are cheating the tax system. The penalty shouldn't stop and just immigrant employment - anyone who underpays people under the table should be penalized. They are robbing the American people (and legal immigrants) of the services established to help us all. I'm all for integrating our people together (all our ancestors were immigrants, after all) but much of the divisiveness is due to the selfish business people who want to skirt the laws. In the end it hurts everyone. Even them.
No, it can't work without the employer having to be responsible.
The only thing that will change with this amnesty bill will be more illegal aliens will have amnesty...they will not start holding the employer responsible. And the North American Union will be created.
NO.
