Immigration?

What if a permanent resident of the US after 35 years get aggravated felony. It's non-violent, will she be deported?

Answer:
Yes. Lopez v. Gonzalez- an aggravated felony is a deportable offense. Was it a drug offense of some kind? Non-violent doesn't matter. ANY aggravated felony opens the deportation door. Has she finished serving her time yet for the felony?
I suggest that she get an attorney.
I hate to say it, but if she's been an LPR for 35 years, she's had plenty of time to get her citizenship.

Good luck.
She committed a felony! Let's just keep her here because I'm sure she's nice...(wink..wink)
Permanent resident means she can't get deported.
Check with the rules on the residency. I think that if a person is convicted of a felony - non-violent or not - they lose their status, and are deported. I could be wrong. But the rules are the rules.
Volleyballchick is right...to a point that is..especially when the govt can prove immoral behaviour...which is a blanket term for almost any crime...a felony would certainly be in that category...so the answer to your question is POSSIBLY...depending on the Govt and how it interprets it...
No if she is a permanent resident she cannot be deported
If she is a permanent resident she can be deported for being convicted of a felony. But after 35 years, why didn't this person become a US citizen??
She couldn't be deported if she was a US citizen.
perm resident status and citizenship are two different deals.

Being a resident & after 35 years still not a citizen? makes her as bad as any illegal..

Btw, it took my mom 3 years to become a citizen, and she didnt work hard at it... and it took another 3 years to speak English.
