Getting Married today to somone from Norway!?
Answer:
my uncle dated this lady for 6 months then they got married and they werent very happy together. they had to beautiful twin daughters. the wife is a little crazy and stole the babies and moved to london and we live in california. so basically dont get married so soon, some people just want to play house. my parents dated for 10 years before they got married and theyve been happy ever since
So, you've known this guy for 3 months and you're going to marry him?! Doesn't sound like a good idea to me! I think you two should be apart for a little bit and then join him in Norway for a while longer and see if both of you see things then as you do now. "His last day here" in the States is not the best reason for getting married. Did it ever occur to you that he doesn't want to go home for good and wants to be an American citizen and that's why he's marrying you so soon? I hope not and I hope that you are one of the few couples that marry so quickly and stay together for a lifetime.
"Thinking about getting married today??"
I would advise that you not make such a life changing decision under duress or haste.
Too late!!! Go live in the beautiful Socialist country of Norway
THE BEST WAY TO DO IT IS THE LEGAL WAY, TODAY U CAN GET MARRIED BUT SINCE IS HIS LAST DAY, U DO NOT WANT TO BREAK THE LAW, HE SHOULD GO AND U CAN ASK FOR YOU SPOUSE ON MONDAY IN IMMIGRATION, IT TAKES TIME BUT SINCE NEITHER OF U BROKE THE LAW EVERYTHING WILL GO OK AND FAST. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING. BY THE WAY CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF U.
It does not matter if you get married today or not. He promised on the visa waiver form that he would leave and that he would not seek a change of status. So even if you got married he would have to leave (as he promised).
Would you really want to marry someone who lies?
9 out of 10 marriages between a alien and US Citizen end in divorce right after the alien gets status.
Do you think yours will be the 1 out of ten that works?
If you really love him and he real loves you then you both could go to Norway (a wonderful country).
If he gives you excuses, then most likely he will be just using you for the green card.
When will US Citizen women realize!
Besides if you do go to Norway then you can meet his other wife!
most states have a wait policy. so...i'm not sure if you could get married today unless you were in vegas.
even if you did get married, he has to go home. but you should get married anyways so you can start the paperwork.
once you are married you can file for a spousal visa. it takes 6-16 months to process. but once it's approved he can legally work and everything. meanwhile, he can still come and visit you on his tourist visa.
Don't listen to anyone! I am a naturalized citizen and I married my wife only after two months of knowing her. Everyone said I was using her for a green card and here we are seven years later still happily married and moving up in the world! We started with nothing. She rented an old two bedroom apartment and I had a suite case and two duffel bags to my name! Today we both have great paying jobs and own our new two storey house with beautiful furniture and our own vehicles. Things are going great for us!!
You can marry your boyfriend, but until those papers are filed he can't stay! You can either petition for him in Norway, or he can come back and you both file the papers ( QUICKER) . Once it is filed , he is allowed to stay and work as long as it takes to receive an answer! Good Luck!!
Most states have a waiting period after the license is issued of at least 24 hours, which would make you inelligible to get married before tomorrow.
Additionally, getting married on a tourist visa is generally a bad idea, and can complicate the immigration process. Best bet is to go back home and apply for a K1 visa, which has a fairly short processing time, and will allow him to come to the US legally and get married to you and stay.
Spouse and Fiance(e) of an American Citizen
Spouse - If you are an American citizen you have two ways to bring your foreign spouse (husband or wife) to the United States to live. They are:
* Immigrant visa for a Spouse of a U.S. Citizen (IR1 or CR1) - An immigrant Petition for Alien Relative, Form I-130 is required.
* Nonimmigrant visa for spouse (K-3) - It is important to note that application for the nonimmigrant visa for spouse (K-3) who married a U.S. citizen must be filed and the visa must be issued in the country where the marriage took place. After the visa process has been completed, and the visa is issued, the spouse can travel to the United States to wait for the processing of the immigrant visa case.
* Two petitions are required:
o Petition for Alien Relative, Form 1-130; and
o Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), Form I-129F
Fiancé(e) - If you are an American citizen, you may bring your fiancé(e) to the United States to marry and live here.
* Nonimmigrant visa for fiancé(e) (K-1) - To travel to the United States for marriage. An
I-129F fiancé(e) petition is required.

My suggestion would be that he return to Norway while you apply for the K-1 visa. In the interim you will have time to plan for your wedding. You can always visit him in Norway!
