Well you don't apply for residency of Florida. You establish residency by living somewhere (say Florida) and doing things consistent with being a resident such as buying ahome, registering a car, getting a driver's license, registering to vote, etc.
You apply to be a citizen of the US. Good luck to you and thank you for doing it the legal way.
