Havent been keeping up on current events have you?, that money they will pay is just a small drop in the bucket...they can have that taken out of their income tax returns, so that is no sweat...but the taxpayor in this country is going to have to foot the bills for their lawyers amongst other things?? Oh cmon.you cant be that ignorant...
And how much do you think the sudden addition of 12,000,000 people into the Social Security and health care and welfare system will have?

1) They DID break the law. That's what makes them illegal.
2) The "punishment" is inadequate. They will be rewarded for their lawbreaking by getting the right to stay here ahead of those who have followed the rules.
The bill won't stop anything. The illegals will still come in to the country. This is all about getting votes.
I don't want a few bucks that won't even start to repair the damage they're doing to my country! Have them take their money back to Latin America and stay there with it!

The immigration status is a very messy subject right now. Those who are for illegal immigrants are few and far between. Those who oppose illegal immigration are labeled as racists and unamerican.
So you say that illegals, no matter what country they come from, will pay a big fine. How will the government collect on that? How will the government process all of the 12+ million illegals when it can't even do passport processing right?
Before we start handing out green cards, maybe the congress should get their house in order first. If they secure the border first, and I mean shut it down completely, then worry about the illegals we have in here, I think that would make more people happy.
Here's the problem:
We like cheap labor, but minimum wage imposes a minimum fee for said labor, negating the notion of "cheap labor." By hiring outside of the system we can skirt minimum wage. With the current system of illegal labor and legitimate supply, minimum wage es No Problemo!
However, once they become freaking legal we can't fire them, and now have to pay minimum wage, which will drive up the cost of goods and services.
So, if I'm going to have to pay more for my tacos and more will be on my hotel bill, why wouldn't I just have native born people do those jobs?
This new system means I get the fee of legitimate labor and the fee of lazy native-borns on welfare.
And frankly, why should I pay for both?
That big amount of money you mentioned will be allowed to be paid over a period of time in installments. Plus they won't legally have to learn English for 10 years! How stupid is that? And have you seen the latest debacle with the passport situation? How the heck are they (the government bureaucracies) going to process all of these illegals in a timely or efficient manner, without having to hire more translators and others to sort through the mess. And just how many of these so called "illegals" are really going to come forward to say, "I'm here and I want to be an American citizen now!" Chaos is all it is and will be.
Why am I whining? Oh, let me count you the reasons:
1. We would be rewarding criminal behavior! Didn't work in the 80's, and it isn't going to work this time, either!
2. You honestly think that when these illegal immigrants become "legal", they will ALL remain gamefully employed? WRONG!! They will be out on their butts because the business that hired them due to them being cheap labor is now going to have to pay them the same wage as a legal citizen (that pesky Federal minimum wage thing)! They aren't going to keep the same number employed after that they had before! And where are these people going to get assistance when they lose their jobs? You bet - right from Uncle Sam's pocket! The very same pocket that I have been paying into for years, and they have not!!
3. See, you honestly think that illegal immigration is going to end? In the 80's, Reagan gave millions of illegal immigrants amnesty, with the stipulation that the borders would be tightened and the laws enforced (sound familiar to you??). Guess what? It didn't work. . .
I am not going to allow millions to get off for crimes simply due to their socioeconomic status (poor). Our prisons are full of felons that committed their crimes due to their being poor. Are we going to allow them to be pardoned as well for the very same thing? You think all that deal drugs do it for pure joy? Many do it to feed their families because they are poor. Are we going to allow them out and give them their license to sell meds? Are we going to allow the car thieves that stole vehicles out of prison just because they stole the car to sell, make some money so they could pay for their kid's necessary medications? No one thinks of that - only of their selfish short sighted viewpoint.
Poverty isn't an excuse to commit a crime. It is a condition. Nothing more. One can not be excused from committing a crime because they are poor and unable to make money any other way. You step down that path, I guarantee, the courts will be flooded with appeals. . .
First: I don't "whine" when people Illegally enter our Country (in the millions), I make a loud noise.
Second: We don't "say" they broke the law, -we point out that the law has been and is being broken.
Third: The Bill is not needed. We already have Immigration Laws.
There is a Government form, the I-9 form, which should prevent all employers from hiring Illegals. The problem is, the employers ignore it and the government doesn't give a rip about enforcing it's own Immigration Laws.

If the bill is going to stop them from stealing my social security number to work, I say pass it. People don't realize how serious the problem is. If we leave things the way they are, many illegal immigrants have the option of committing crimes and never getting caught for them. Currently, there is no way to track how many illegal immigrants are here and crossing the border daily. They can only estimate and I think 12 million is probably being conservative. Yes, they broke the law by coming here illegally but let's keep track of them to make sure they can't break the law while in our soil..
You must be kidding. There won't be any enforcement of fines. This gov. is a joke .We need to impeach every last one of them. Illegals won't obey any of the new laws. They don't even obey the ones we have now.
the bill (unfortunately) will pass and no the fines will never be paid and no illegals will not have to go back to apply for citizenship and yes this is just another FREEBIE thanks to America. Amazing how 1 administration can take the greatest country in the world and trash it in less than 8 yrs.

There is a law in place where criminals can't gain from their criminal activity. If they pass this law it will be challenged by this existing law. Aren't politicians suppose to know the law?

1) ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE CRIMINALS FOR BREAKING THE LAW!
2) The bill will NOT pass tomorrow, or ever!
3) even if the pile of crap passed, the only illegal s that pay a SMALL fine of $5,000 are the ones that apply for citizenship. The green card holders and Z-visa illegals pay nothing! If you don't know that, you don't know what's in the bill. I say SMALL fine because $5,000 is tiny compared to the amount the taxpayers have been shelling out for these criminals for decades!
4) What the heck do you mean by "so called criminal acts?" Are they here illegally? YES! Is it against the law to be here illegally? YES! That means they are CRIMINALS! So stop YOU whining about them not being criminals.
This bill only benefits the 20+ million illegal alien criminals. It will bankrupt America, not help border security and make the illegal alien problem WORSE! If you think the illegals will stop coming if this horrible bill passes, you are not in touch with reality, just like the moronic Senators and Jorge Bush!
BTW, last thing I heard on the news was that they MIGHT get 58 Senators to vote for cloture. My friend, that's not enough! This pile of garbage will go down in flames tomorrow!
