Whats the rush to fix immigration?

Some people think it's better to pass a bad bill than no bill at all. They act like this is the last chance to do something about immigration. Whats the rush? Doing nothing at the present would serve to give us more time to figure out what to do. We could start by deporting the criminal aliens first. Not much resistance for that from anybody and just see what kind of problems that solves. That may take five years. So what, remember, theres no rush.
In the meantime, we steady keep working on that border. All the money we save by postponing major immigration reform can buy a lot of security at the border.
After the criminals have been deported, we can define elgibility requirements for amnesty. English could be one of those requirements. If they cannot speak english they are not elgible for amnesty. Perhaps many of the 12 million would not be elgible. They would know that they could be deported if they do not meet elgibility requirements.
Seriously,whats the rush?

Answer:
You are 100% right. There has not be a better word said on all this immigration rubbish. It is a diversion and a time waste. If the years go by, once the wall goes up and the criminals get deported, there is every chance the many if not most of those who are left will have integrated into the American way of life. It is a plan to divert attention from the War and Bush does not care that he splits the Republican Party to do it.
your right. did you know you can send as little as $5.oo to the minutemen to help build the fence. if enough Americans sent that, they would have enough to build the wall.
i agree. but the wall, A REAL WALL, needs to go up first or what's the point of even wasting money sending them home.
How about the idea of rushing to nothing and just use the immigration laws that are in the book already? Sound like a good idea? Just inforce the laws already there and stop taking up vaulable time on something that is already written.
Bush just wants his one last chance to *uck the country up beyond repair before hes out of office.
As I have already said elsewhere, the immigration thing is a smoke screen to occupy congress while Bush stalls for time regarding the war in Iraq. It is nothing more than a diversion. Bush has urged them to "press on" etc. We have never bothered to enforce the old immigration laws, so what makes anyone think a new one will do the trick? And then he will blame the Democratic congress for not being able to come to any kind of agreement! Just watch!
I don't believe it should be rushed.More needs to be looked at.I also think they should pass parts in increments so the public regains some trust in government.Like deal with Border first and once that's taken care of deal with the visa system.Etc
I agree. Let's trap the ones here and work the h_ll out of them and when they die off, open the border and let some more sneak in.
Well you are technically right. We don't have to do anything about immigration at all. We can allow 12 million people to continue to live in the shadows and our borders to be unregulated. We could choose to continue along those lines.

However, some people feel that immigration and illegal immigration is a large problem and that it needs to be fixed ASAP. And it just so happens that there is a bill in congress that offers a potential solution to the problem. Is it the best bill? Probably not. Could it be better? Probably. Will we ever arrive at the "perfect" bill after years of debate and discussion? I doubt it. So why not run with it?
YES, luv keep searching.
