I live in america my wife came from aus. her visa is expired can she get non working social security card?

my wife flew from austrlia and we got married last year but her visa is expired and she elected to stay here because my folks are very sick and she knew it would be to much for just me so she stayed. can she get a non working social securty card and if she can can i claim her on my taxes..

Listen buddy, it's no problem. If an immigrant marries a U.S. citizen, then they are granted citizenship as well. No need for visa when you get the full thing. Go to a local court and speak to who ever about making your wife a citizen. As long as the marriage occurred in the U.S. you should have no problem.
Ummm, please ignore the guy above me. Though someone married to a US Citizen has more leverage, she would've needed to apply for a K visa for that to be true. Since she didn't, she's out of status and won't be allowed to get a SSN. Her best bet is to leave and re-enter on a visa.
