Since when is 25 million a sensational number?. Nobody knows how many there are here, it could be and most likely is higher than 25 million. They hide, they live 7 or more to a house, one does the shopping for the family, how can you accurately say how many there are?., I, personally, think the number is much higher than 25 mil.
No one really knows, but if amnesty is granted I bet in the end there will be over 30 million
Certain politicians and persons on mytend.com just keep making a bigger number because they want to scare others more so that they think it's a bigger crisis than it is. 12 million wasn't big enough so they keep making a bigger number till it has a bigger shock to people.
I'd say more like 30 million.
In Realty the actual number may be closer to 40 million.

12 million is what the Senate bill is claiming but thats a quite low number its definitely alot more than that.
Bears Sterns estimated 20 mill for planning purposes a while back. Pew Hispanic center calculated from a census with an accelerator which if continued gets us to about 12 mill, and other estimates are different. All are based on something, but a 'count' isn't feasible.
Frankly, I believe Bears Sterns, which is in the middle of the numbers I've seen, but I always use Pew Hispanic Center's because those are unassailable, and if anything, clearly on the conservative side.
If you go to numbercounters.com they will give you a bunch of different methodologies. None are 'wrong' but all depend on assumptions.

There are two different numbers. One is the estimate of all illegal aliens, that is the 20-25 million. The other is the number of illegal Mexicans that is 8-15 million.
The fact is, no one really knows. How out of control is that? We really have to do something about this while we still can.

Because the original numbers didn't add up. If you notice lately even the government says 12 million illegal WORKERS. Not all illegals are WORKING! They don't HAVE a CLUE as to how many are here. They've done 2 special censuses in areas around here because there's so many illegals and they needed the government funding for just the kids for school. I would really love to see an honest to goodness head count. Personally I think it's ALOT more. We have towns here where 75% or more are definate illegals. When you are seeing streems of people comming over the border daily....the 12 million is a drop in the bucket for the reality of the situation.
12 million is the conservative estimate performed by a couple of special interest organizations. 20 - 25 million is the more generous view. Many of the Senators are now quoting 13 - 15 million.. Take your pick but a safe bet would be somewhere between the conservative estimate and the generous estimate.
No one knows for sure, its rather hard to put an accurate number on it. In 86 it was supposed to be 3 million but 5 million applied for amnesty. So some people are just estimating high again.
