What Are the Candidates Saying About Immigration Reform?
Answer:
Most are saying as little as possible and if cornered will speak out of both sides of their mouth at the same time.
Most politicians don't care what is right or wrong or what the American people want. They only care about getting into office and then doing what they want.
Look what happened to the border fence. Pre-election everyone jumped on the bandwagon but now what has been done? Now they can't decide what to fund or if they want to fund it. More of the tell them what they want to hear then do what you want politics.
Tancredo is about the only one that has taken a stand. Vote Tancredo in 2008
Guiliani, for 'comprehensive' ditto McCain, Romney for guest worker but not amnesty and for border security (but no one is sure of sincerity) and he wants more skilled immigrants fewer unskilled. Tancredo is for secure borders, and no amnesty and enforcement, Duncan Hunter is for secure borders first, at least. I am not entirely sure where he stands after that. Hillary and Obama both for 'comprehensive' immigration reform, Edwards just announced in CA that he is too.
Others, I don't know.
They all have something to say, but none of them are doing anything effective to reverse it. Walls and guards will slow the influx of illegals a little, but if they really wanted to reverse it, simply require all employers to check the legal working status of all employees. Hoards of illegal workers from construction to fast food would be out of work or their employers would face big fines and jail time. You would see people streaming out of the country once the money faucet was shut off. But don't worry business owners, you have our politicians on your payroll and they will say things that make the voters happy, but they won't take real action.
Nothing.
Basically, the only 2 out there in favor of securing the borders, no "guest worker" (amnesty by a different name), no amnesty are either Rep Tom Tancredo (CO) or Rep Ron Paul (TX). Hunter and Romney would closely follow.
A lot are crying for reform, but they are not telling us why they feel we need reform. Only really Hunter and Tancredo, want border control and no amnesty.
They are all lying and saying what they think their audiences want to hear.
None are talking against amnesty. However, the American people in general want to see all illegals sent back.
I haven't heard much about it from any of the candidates thus far. They'll probably give safe answers. I am eager to hear their opinions.
Other than Tom Tancredo they are all being evasive as typical politicians do when they don't want to offend the fringe ethnic groups like La Raza. Basically, you can bet that if any of the mainstream candidates are elected, they'll do the same thing they're doing now - lying and doing absolutely nothing, showing their complete incompentence in leadership.
depends on who it is. hey is your avatar patty hearst?
In my state, I have two that are for immigration reform and one that isn't. They are making a lot of changes right now though. My husband entered this country illegally and he is currently in Mexico being penalized for one year for illegal entry. But they just passed a law that you no longer have to wait a year and if you can prove to the US Consulate why you can't pack up and move to Mexico, you get your Visa on the spot. This new law does not affect us, however, because we are already lost in the backlog. :(
nothing comprehensive
