What would happen if USA citizens (not the President,Congress etc) voted on all of these immigration bills?
Why are'nt we allowed to vote on this anyway? I thought we lived in a democracy? Surely if this issue went before the voters it would'nt pass would it?
is just me or more and more people more angry about this issue on the illegal immigration bill here daily? Do our leaders in Washington even read boards like these to see how the average american citizens feels about all this.
Somehow I rather doubt their read our feelings of anger here. They would rather cater to the illegals than listen to the taxpayers(their employers) who elected them in the first place.

"Do our leaders in Washington even read boards like these to see how the average american citizens feels about all this."
Probably not - but each and every leader has a feedback page on their website so that we citizens can write and express our opinions.
I recommend using it.

Be pro-active and let them know that you're paying attention.
i think many people would be deported if it were up to the average American...but many liberals would wet their bed if we let the American people decide for themselves...
What is scary about your question is: How do we know if the people voting are not illegal immigrants. This has been found in every state. In my town, people stand outside grocery stores and register people to vote. I have yet to see any of them ask for I.D.
if you are illegal you out
Nothing would happen. Most Americans are against illegals coming into this country scott free.
Contrary to what turntable says about the Democrats, there are plenty of us liberals who are sick of illegal immigrants.
Well, if the opinions on here are any indicator, then it would overwhelmingly be voted down.
Personally, it enrages me that the members of congress feel that they can vote against the majority of their constituants in favor of an industry. I think that they are doing a major disservice to this country.
Make the phone calls people. I am telling you, if the members of congress know that they will lose their jobs if they don't do their jobs. And then vote that way!
I am guessing the American People would vote overwhelmingly to have the existing laws enforced.
There would be enforcement and deportations.
I think without a doubt citizens would vote it down in a heartbeat. Even people who would promote amnesty for some, wouldn't go for blanket amnesty and would still want laws enforced, border secured and other things fixed. Too many communities have suffered the ill effects of this to just give a quiet.sure go ahead.let em' all come in. Over and over it's secure the border, speak English and some honest look at how our systems are being abused by non-citizens. Not to mention if something isn't done about this "cheap labor" business..people cannot survive on minimum wage and even working people aren't making enough to keep afloat. That can't be ignored forever. And our tax dollars can't keep "making up" for what business won't bother to pay and even educated people can't continue to be bumped from jobs for "cheap labor" replacements who are just coming here temporarily to make bucks and then go back to live in their countries wealthy at our citizens expense.
There's alot to this picture and people see it. Alot of lies have been told us and people see us as a nation being sold out for money to the lowest bidder.
I believe it should go to a vote. That is if they can get beyond the bogus ID's and everything to make sure it's actual alive citizens voting and not illegal aliens stuffing the ballot box's with their fraudulent votes.
In a way we did express how we would vote in the next if amnesty was passed. Most senators voted on their convictions, and some voted on their next election, it is up to us to let them know that they need to be concerned about out needs not the lobbies, and certainly not the illegals and the group like La Raza that had no problem with enriching themselves at our expense
Gosh, our laws would be enforced, the border secured and no path to citizenship would pass!
Leave it to the people and a whole lot of special interest groups, employers and corporations would be crying..
if the people voted on that bill it would fly like a brick, it's been shown in poll after poll that the American people hate the bill
I'm sure that this would be defeated in the polls. I hate the way they try to add little things on bills that most people aren't even aware of and push them all through at once. This is a single issue and should be put through as such. Illegal is illegal!
If I were allowed to vote on all of these immigration bills. THEY WOULD NEVER PASS.
I agree with you on the this, I believe that if we the voters had some say so in the matter the situation that we are in now would be resolved.
I don't believe the votes would be counted fairly.I am in the older generation and I feel the elections now are fixed. but if the American people got to vote, yes, it would definitely be voted down.and, no, our government officials do not read these or do not listen...it is all about personal gain...Ted Kennedy is the worse die-hard and sympathizer..he should worry about Americans living in the streets and on welfare and unemployed...but no, we must feel sorry for all these Illegals...well, they are not our problem and our government had better open their eyes and see that if they pass this bill, there will probably be more violence and crime than before.
We elected them we can vote them out. It is time to off the Dem's and many Republicans The only party that will enforce the laws are the Libertarians... and that ain't happening.
.but isnt this what the "majority of Americans want"..
plus this issue is very close the Presidents heart..
....also they are doing the job Americans dont wanna do.
Hilarious isnt it.
I wrote to my senators even though am not even a Citizen yet but enroute to that sounding my displeasure.
Imagine if every citizen wrote a simple letter to thier Senator.
NO on Amnesty.yes on stay...
Yes on Amnesty..Go away
hell no it would not pass.
Thats why they are doing these "closed door" sessions.
If that happened we could close the border tomorrow.
Then We would not need them, We could do it are selfs, But, I Don't think that will happen any time soon.
