A Chinese citizen of Korean ethnicity emigrates to South Korean and after some years of residence acquires Korean citizenship (and renounces Chinese citizenship)... is he still an overseas Chinese?
What about the Dalai Lama, is he an overseas Chinese?
Answer:
well, legally, no
regardless of the anthropological or linguistic factors, he cant be chinese in the legal sense if hes a permanent citizen of korea
dalai lama... isnt he tibetan? and if i'm not mistaken, the chinese government doesnt "recognize" him since they used to have a anti-tibetan and anti-religious stance (but things have changed, such as the fact that the PRC govt wants to talk with the vatican and such)
