Did the USA ever have a period of unrestricted immigration?

(It's current boarder arrangements with Mexico not to be included in answer, lol)

Answer:
I think there was pretty unlimited immigration up to 1911 - then people started panicking about all the Italians/Poles/Etc taking all the jobs, subverting the culture, etc, so a quota was established that favoured Anglo/German types. Basically, those that were already in didn't want to share with others.

Before the Europeans arrived in the new world. America was dumping for religous zelots, felons, and undesirables from Europe. We took all in we really started restricting immigration after ww1 because of communist scares. The result of immigration rescriction, combined with super high traiffs was the great depression in America.
Yes, of course. Up until 1965, immigration was limited to roughly 500, 000. Kennedy and that group changed all that. Now we have regular immigration of around a million a year.
We will quadrouuple our population every 20 years at the current rate.
It is my opinion this needs to be changed. We have too many people in the USA. Tried parking? Tried getting a job? Tried getting Health Care? Lots of too many people failured from my postion. We need to slide back to 500,000 a the most for a while.
Let our new people soak in more. Give America a chance to slim out and look svelte again. WE are like force fed pigs in the country currently. Fat and bulging and incapable of seeing and turning correctly on the truth. So many different directions and so few really good leads/ understandings in which direction to turn next. This is civic obesity. Slenderize America.
WE will attract better suitors.
