How do you qualify for disabilty? I have been denied many times .?
Answer:
Social Security almost always denies you the first time. Once you have been denied you need to go to an attorney these attorneys usually work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if you win. You can go to your nearest legal aid or call the State Bar association in your state and ask for a referral to an organization who will help low income people.
well it helps if you are anything but a WHITE male... get a lawyer they can get it pushed through...SSI normally turns you down the first few times
I'm sure it depends on your disability. Keep trying I've heard
sometimes it takes 3 or more times of trying before being
accepted.
I worked as a medical Social Worker in a clinic and was told often times denials are caused because of medical records not being received in a timely manner. Check with the doctors you have listed to make sure they have submitted your medical evidence. Sometimes it helps to get your records and submit them with your claim.
It is my understanding that a doctor has to diagnose this after evaluating the condition. It has to be something that is life altering to limit one's ability to work, drive, etc. that makes one impared in some way. I also believe it is something that is not just given to someone in the benefits. It gets investigated and has to meet certain requirements to qualify. Try calling the dept. that handles this and ask what qualifies as a disability to find out or google disabilities and see what is shown in this to determine someone has one.
It is not a life of luxury when one is on disability. It gives some priviledges such as the select parking spaces at public places, etc. but nothing to be thrilled about or brag about.
It is a very time consuming process, but I got it on my first try, although being a disabled veteran did hurt my case though. During the waiting period for the both of them almost caused me to declare bankruptcy, that was 3 years ago and I am still trying to catch up with it, so be prepared for some hardships along the way, I know first hand.
Get all the information you can get on yourself and find an attorney who mainly handles social security cases, I used one and they were great to me, always kept me informed and gave me plenty of time to submit other evidence needed, it is worth getting a good attorney for this.
Perhaps this is the obvious answer, but I would suggest that you need to be "disabled" or have some sort of life altering disability in order to qualify for disability. I'd be interested to know the reasons behind the denials.
Maybe its because you don't need it? I'm sure multiple applications don't look good
