Why aren't more Blacks speaking out against illegal immigration?

I do not know why that the so called "black leaders" are not speaking out against illegal immigration. You are 100 percent correct in your statement that poor Blacks are the group most affected by illegal immigration.
I DO hear normal work a day Blacks complaining at the water cooler. I believe that the black leadership is more interested in collecting money then they are taking care of their constituency; they have lost contact.
I have nothing against immigrants but I feel that it is best to take care of your own family first; black Americans are getting shafted and there seems to be no public voice.

The only way illegal immigration affects me is with my son's school.I have to put him in a private school partly because of it.Job wise,I am a public employee,illegal immigrants could NEVER get a state job.But to answer your question,it seems as of our leaders are too busy "ambulance chasing." I'm both (Black and Latina) and most people I talk to say this,"At least WE don't have to do those jobs anymore." I know it sounds rotten but that's what I hear. That may be why fewer blacks speak out about it.

I think just as many black Americans are speaking out against illegals as any other group of Americans, including Native Americans. But who knows. This is about Americans, not race.
Because many black and activists sympathize with discrimination..If you don't think Hispanics have been discriminated against, just look at history, like the Texas Rangers "REIGN OF TERROR" or the Zoot Suit Riots in LA, to name a few...
Funny, you really need a history lesson..You never hear about discrimination but doesn't mean it didn't exist and in far greater numbers than history reports, discrimination is always a dirty little secret.All the more reason, you should sympathize with people who are discriminated against..Hispanics are NOT actively seeking to steal your job.They will find work where ever they can..They do the most menial work, are you willing to scrub toilets for minimum wage? There are alot of blacks against it. All poor of all races are dealing with this first hand. As far as the black community, well look at how Hurricane Katrina was handled. Maybe some of those blacks like to see white americans squirming but at the same time they don't like being refused for jobs.
The place I live there are plenty of blacks doing these supposed jobs Americans don't want to do and do it well.
Blacks generally don't care about themselves or eachother. I would try to help in any way that one man can but I won't. You cannot help people who don't want to help themselves. I also feel bad for blacks who have self respect because they get s h i t on by other blacks and whites who stereotype them.

The unions obtained a 60 cent raise over 5 years due to Illegal Immigrants in Nevada 5 years ago and no benefits! It maybe okay for them, but for American Citizens, It does not pay the Bills! The Union is the Culinary Union and should be REPLACED by a REALone...
Senate is trying to Pass another Amnesty Bill for Illegals Today, headed up by Harry Reid and Kennedy. The whole Congress and Senate Voting for it should be Impeached and tried for TREASON for Not upholding their Oaths of Office, the Laws of the Land, The US Constitution and the Bill of Rights! Their First obligations are to American Citizens Not potential voters! It is not Funny Anymore!
From what I know about the minitemen project many blacks have joined. I just think immigration is probably not one of their bigger issues.

Our new liberal Gov. in Virginia is mandating that 40% of ALL state contractors ( and yes they work for the state) be minority owned,,,HE'S NOT looking for black owned HE wants HISPANIC owned.

Maybe they can relate to the racist sentiment against Hispanic immigrants? I saw a report of a GREAT black man and his community group go and try to talk some sense to the minutemen. I wish I'd see more of these people.

May be because a good percentage of blacks have kids and in-laws from Mexican decent. Personally, I have three grandkids of African decent who are bi-lingual and personally do you really think that they will be glad to here political non-sense that affects there Mexican side?

Because the focus isn't on black folk anymore. I think it's better for them to lay low, and stay outta the spot light for only the 2nd time in history. ( The first time, the arabs had the spot light after 9/11). Plus not to be racist but the majority have really no interest when it comes to politics unless it directly pertains to them.
Maybe we do not want to compete with maids, cooks, fruit pickers, etc. Maybe we aspire to more and do not really care what the illegals do. Why do you think we are (or should be) a permanent underclass? I mean, that is truly insulting, if not racist on your part to think Blacks as a race should have a problem with someone coming over to pick cotton.

Why don't they? i have yet to see an uneducated black person. Everyone I have met and friendship with are quit intelligent.
I have asked this question many times, and cannot get a decent answer. I know in some neighborhoods in Los Angeles the Mexican gangs are running African Americans out of their neighborhoods. It is amazing to me what is happening in this country. When the chicken place in the south somewhere was raided because of hiring illegals, the owners whinned and complained that they wouldn't be able to find anyone to do the job for the pay they were paying the illegals, but the very next day, 200 African Americans showed up for the jobs. If anyone other than native Americans have a right to complain about what is happening, it's the African Americans. Excellent question.
the reason is because it is a similar struggle in both cultires, the black panthers tought intercomunialism which ment accept all other races as brothers and equals, and that is how things should work

Because even though this isn't a race issue, in some sense it is onewhen people only keep speaking of the illegal immigrants of only one ethnic background but not about illegal immigrants in general. Also i feel that as Black we too have a point of reference in our own history when it comes to blind intolerance under the cover of laws. We know that some laws can be made unfair to defavorise a certain class of people. I am sure you know what i am talking about. Up to the time when my grandfather was still alive in the 40's a black person could not even consider buying a car if they did not want to get in trouble (publicly whipped that is) with the white folks. True story ffom the colonization times in Africa. Most French and British and Belgians won't even admit to the horrors that were committed then. So yeah i think that i can understand how the illegals must feel. I am not saying illegality is alright but i am saying maybe they weren't given much chance to come here legally anyways.
And yeah why should blacks fight for low-income, disgusting jobs when they should strive and work hard for better positions in society? I'm doing my residency in medecine and i sure as heck wouldn't want to be washing some immigrant-hating person's floor instead.
