1. something get done about illegal immigration right now (let's say documenting illegals so we know who they are and where they live) so that we can get this HUGE problem under control.
2. NOTHING gets done about illegal immigration and millions more come flooding through our border until "illegal" immigration becomes an issue again in congress.
Which would you rather choose if you only had these 2 choices?

Y E S!!! Absolutely, it was a horrible bill and I'm so glad that the peoples true wishes were finally heard and heeded.
I'm sure my ISP is glad since in the last 3 weeks I've sent out over 500 emails to Legislators and the President.

It's good that this garbage amnesty bill is by the wayside for now, but don't drop your gaurd yet because there will plenty more on the way.

Yes I am glad the bill didn't pass. However, things still remain the same. Until I see mass deportation and the up-holding of the current laws, I won't be elated.

Yes, I'm elated, too, but the collaborators with the Mexican colonists will be back, looking to get some sort of amnesty passed when the public is looking the other way, and the government will continue to allow de facto open borders as long as either Bush or a Democrat is in the White House.
It's good there were as many people up in arms about this bill as there were, but in terms of the importance of this issue to the country, too many people were just not involved. Everybody but me was all worked up about 9/11, but this is much more important over the long run than that stunt was. We need to get a strong movement going to force our so-called "representatives" to do what we keep demanding - enforce the law.

It's a shame that too many people overlook the small but SIGNIFICANT difference between those people who play by the rules, follow the law, and come here legally...
...and the scumsucking "the laws don't apply to us" illegals who thumb their noses at the rules when it suits them.

I'm glad this bill was killed, and I hope that the next attempt at this will actually be something that favors the AMERICAN people - you know, the people who are paying our taxes and actually FOLLOWING the law?
Nandina you are "correct" I don't think the American people are complaining about the Legal Immigrants who are here Legally and pay their Dues like most Americans. It is the Millions of Illegals that are here Milking Our Welfare System, and Social Security benefits, that they have not paid one dime into. If they are NOT Legal, then they should NOT be here...

It has been over 6 years since 911 and we still have not secured our borders. The senators were trying to blackmail us, they wanted us to accept amnesty in exchange for border security. Call, write, and fax your members, and say we want border security

Yes because of the unfair treatment of legal immigrants vs. illegal immigrants proposed in this bill.
No because now we'll have to wait several more years for any possibility of action. More than likely, when it does come up again, it will just be further pandering to the voters (both legal and illegal) by our "representatives", who all the while know that nothing will get done.
Its time for America to retake its government back from the special interests
