What happened to the Vagrancy Laws?

Those laws where declared unconstitutional. You can't arrest someone for just for walking without money.
Besides the cops only arrested black people.
perhaps read the constitution. Laws against vagrancy in the United States have largely been invalidated as violative of the due process clauses of the U.S. Constitution.
it seems as though nobody wants to enforce the law..I remember that in my home town the police enforce the vagrancy..if I recall a person had to have $20 in their possession or they where considered a vagrant..but that was 40+ years ago
I remember hearing about those laws, but we also had laws that imprisoned those who were debtors who failed to pay on the debt, too. There were also laws against having sex on Sunday...

Seriously, there are variations of that law for "loiterers," which usually are meant to detract from panhandlers in college towns, such as Tempe, Arizona. But I don't recall ever hearing of anyone arrested as a vagrant.
Yes, I remember the vagrancy law and it varied from state to state, When I was a youngster the law in the state I was growing up in stated that if you were of age and didn't have a least $1 on your person you could be arrested for vagrancy.But that was before checking accounts, credit cards and the like. Those laws have been dropped by the wayside in all of the states now and now the jails are overcrowded with ''legal'' people that have commited crimes and nobody has the room in the jails for ''illegal aliens'' and no tax dollars to build jails for these people. Since ''NAFTA'' the Republicans have ''SOLD'' our ''jobs'' to foriegn countries and if you look at ''Big Business'' ALL of them are Republican.And here's something to think about, Bush was personally worth 11.5 million when first put in office and now, as of today, he is worth well over 500 million!! What in hell is this all about?!! Well I'll tell you how, It's by all of the stocks given to him or sold to him on ''pennies to the dollar'' for all the tax breaks and the ''new'' laws governing ''Big Business'' that allows them to ''farm out'' jobs to ''third world'' countries and undermine our economy so that ''THEY" are super wealthy and ''THEY" only care about themselves and theirs. This REALLY pisses me off!
