I am an immigrant from South Africa. 4 years ago my mother won a Greencard in the Greencard Lottery (yes, there is a greencard lottery). Every single person in my family of 4 works hard and my brother and I are both in college. There is a stereotype about immigrants, and that is because alot of them fit the profile, sorry to say. Proud to be different!
my 10th great grandmother came here on a boat from Eastern Africa.
I have immigrated from the USA to China, in part because I lost my job, plus my age is 56 and age discrimination is real, plus I would have to go back to school and I only have a few years left of working before I can start drawing my pension, and I had few opportunities in the states. But more then anything, I was sick and tired of the negativeness - the running away from responsibilities, the blame game, the fear, crime, racism, etc that is plaguing America.
I've been living in the PRC for a year, this is my third visit here and I intend to stay. I've got a great life here and real friends I can honestly count on.
