Haven't the English, the Irish and the Scots been duking it out for centuries? (If I recall correctly, there were wars over religion during medieval times and the Irish and Scots did not take kindly to colonialization by the UK.) There's no active war now of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if there remained some active grudges on both sides.

I think that the advice you have given to someone who is thinking of leaving their country for a new country, is well placed in your heart if you have experienced severe hardships in a new place, but those looking to leave and deadset on leaving their countries will not take the advice you have listed because they might not believe you and think you are lying or not looking for their best interests.
Even though you feel your advice is the right thing, unfortunately those who do not want negative advice will not pay attention to what you are saying and come anyway.
