Answer:
I'm with you 100% and foursquare despite the heat which you will take for your well presented commentary which expresses well that which many natural born citizens are unable to fathom because they don't know the other side.

Most of them don't know what it's like to come to America in pursuit of a dream as they rant and rave about "criminals" who come here "illegally" and who have no idea what it is like to starve under a repressive government which urges them to leave because there's no hope in Mexico.

When America was growing their population, the great part of our population today, people came with little more than the shirts on their backs, no papers, no visas, no more than their hope. They lined up, day after day, month after month and year after year at Ellis Island. All they had to do was show up, be in good health and willing to work, that's all. In short, we didn't classify them as "legal" or "illegal" because it didn't matter.

The first efforts by the United States of America to establish Immigration laws that were to be enforced were essentially based upon discriminatory practices which have all since been repealed and found to be unconstiutional. These were enacted to prevent Chinese and Japanese from becoming citizens of the United States. This was hardly a proud beginning for the establishment of laws that were supposed to be foundationed upon the very reason that the United States was formed, avoiding oppression.

The parents of nearly all of the US Army forces known as the 100th and 442nd who fought during WW!! and received the largest number of medals of any component of our military were not allowed to be citizens of the USA nor to become naturalized citizens. Most of them had come to America as contract laborers who had been been lured by false promises. and deluded into coming to our shores to do the work that others did not want to do.

In the years after WW11, there were some reforms which gave rise to the concepts of "legal" versus "illegal" when quota based laws governed the way in which people would be admitted to the USA. These Alien protections were, in a larger sense, to prevent the spread of communism, they began the "registration" of persons. But they leaned heavily in favor of European whites, still maintaining a discrimination against non-whites. Since, all of those have been found to be unconstitutional.

The first relaxation of these laws went hand in hand with refugees seeking political asylum or fleeing from repressive Communist regimes. Later, as an aftermath of the Vietnam War, there began a relaxation of very quick and easy absorption of Vietnamese and Cambodians who came in very large numbers.

And here we are, the year is 2007, and the USA is caught up in the continuing role as the last great hope for people of good will who seek haven. But we have, as a Nation, loudly proclaimed them to be criminals, they are breaking our laws and you can't have what we have, so go home, get out, leave us be.....

As a Nation, we have been quick to accept when it is to our advantage, but just as quick to deny for all of the reasons which allowed many of our predecessors to enter the USA without papers, without visas, without money, but only a desire to find safe haven. These are, in large part, our great and great great grandparents who stood in line at Ellis Island, who were lured from the Orient with false promises, who stayed, had children and who stood firm in their love of their new country, offering their own sons up in time of our greatest war.

No, my view may not follow popular convention but for myself, we ought to be ashamed of our behavior and look back upon our own history which isn't anything to be proud of by the very standards of why and how this country attained their greatness.

I applaud your commentary but feel certain that many cannot begin to understand it.
We are glad this site helped you, and we are glad you are here legally. It sounds like you have a lovely family.

We also do not want illegal criminals who sponge off the system, who don't pay income taxes, but whose healthcare, police and fire protection we then turn around and pay for.

SOrry if you don't like the fact that we don't like paying for others who break our laws , take and don't contribute.

If you want the part of the site you are comfortable with, thenyou have to take the part that you aren't.

That is America--the good with the bad. Open freedom of speech. People who are allowed to disagree with others.
boo hoo!! i did not hear you say one thing about the illegals who whine on this site about - oh I'm just trying to better my life-boo hoo!! or about their rude, name-calling racism etc. and yes Americans are pissed off and we have the right to be. if you don't like how we Americans are, why are you living here? maybe those so-called gifted children could teach you to spell!
I believe most Americans are angry at the illegal immigrants. They come to America illegally, and then have demonstrations which I believe angers many citizens. Some people don't seem to like any immigrants but those people must have forgotten their ancestors were immigrants. The fact is some people come here illegally and cost taxpayers money. I have no idea what percentage of illegals do this, but they get the most press so the illegals who come over and pay taxes, (which does happen) and don't get free medical by skipping out on the bill and sticking it to taxpayers (something many citizens do to) are pushed to the background. I also believe many white people want to stop immigration so whites will remain the majority, but thats just a personal opinion.
Were it not for all the ILLEGALS, it would be easier for people like you to get into this country. The ILLEGALS do not want to wait, and think it is their right to do what they please and where they please with total disregard to the laws of any country they happen to be in. Then they want to say they are not criminals. Well, entering anything with out permission is ILLEGAL. Doubt that, try entering your favorite store after hours and see what happens.

Yes, the USA needs skilled workers and educated people. All we are asking is that it is done the right way.
The immigration section is for all. For those who wish to find out information about an immigration process as well as those who want to inform the public of impending doom from a bill that would greatly harm the people. We are only participating in the process of making sure our voices were heard, our government is supposed to be the voice of the people and this is one of many forums in which to make that voice heard.

Anyway, glad you followed the law and respected the citizens, hope you find what your looking for in the immigration section.
Raine, change your immigration destination ... come down under instead .. I think we'd love to have you and your family In Australia.
Personally, you being disappointed with us doesn't bother me a bit. You're not American. You aren't dealing with the fallout of millions of illegal immigrants coming into our home and acting as if we owe them something. You are entirely welcome to stay right where you're at or to pick another country to emmigrate to. We aren't here to make your life better.
