I am going to apply for one of these, but have been told they are only valid for 6 months and have to apply for an extension after I arrive in the UK from the home office? Anyone been through the process, what are the costs and process for this extension? Thanks!

they're vaild for 2 years. everything is on the brit. consulate website. im in the UK at the moment on one. wasn't too difficult to organise though you need proof you've been together for more than 2 years. cost about $700 AUD.
