Why do we need immigration reform?

We already have good laws in place. We should be enforcing them.

Answer:
We see it over and over what we need is enforcement of existing laws. We need the border patrol to be able to do their job without fear of prison! What we don't need is the country killing bill that will be voted on again tomorrow! This bills purpose is to drag us into the North American Union as another third world Mexico complete with the poverty and corruption! This bill S 1348 is total instant amnesty! It will allow the illegals to bring in up to 11 of their family members. We could see our population double in a very short time! There are no provisions for infrastructure or entitlements in the bill and this cost will be Trillions.
Please tell your senators NO to S1348 right now.
The first link below will help you contact them. Do emails tonight and call first thing tomorrow.

No, the problem is we don't have good laws in place. They're far to weak to handle a problem of this size.

We need a more restrictive set of immigration laws, and it needs to have much larger teeth.

Why we need it should be obvious. Criminal immigrants are a HUGE drain on the American taxpayer, and the problem is growing exponentially. It's 20-30 million leaching off us now, in a few more decades it'll be 100 million.

Not stopping this criminal invasion now, will drag us down to a 3rd world standard of living within our lifetimes. That's why we need it.
Exactly!
Existing Immigration laws had many loopholes that illegals use in order to become legal in the US. Thus, Immigration laws must be changed to prevent people from capitalizing on the errors in the provisions of the laws.
I agree...If we enforced the laws, then we wouldn't need reform.
We have good laws in place that have been circumvented by pandering politicians over the past twenty plus years. Everyone admits that the intricacies of the 1986 amnesty bill that Reagan pushed for are actually non-enforceable because of some of the provisions that were added to the bill before it past. Some of its enforcements codes have either been stricken down and deemed unconstitutional by courts or were taken out by politicians looking for votes.

The only reform we need it to clarify what must be done to become an American citizen, which should start with thorough background checks. It should also be devoid of loopholes larger than the border for people to jump through. It should clearly define federal penalties for not only the illegal immigrants, but also the people that help them get here and supply them with jobs and resources once they get here. It should also mandate enough funding so not to compromise the integrity of enforcement.
I'm a conservative republican and I disagree. No I don't own a business or hire illegals, I am a simple geologist in Minnesota.

The bill would prevent our country from descending into anarchy, the way things are with countless illegals in our country things will get out of hand if action's not taken and you can kiss your comfortable American lifestyle goodbye.

The people against this bill don't seem to grasp history, Eisenhower had an "operation *******" way back when that didn't work too well as you can see. It made the suituation worse, as a matter of a fact.
because we're overbearing control freaks who don't own the earth but think so and want to feel the sensation of having power over others. It feels so great to know you've ruined an immigrants life, no easier way to feel more power than collectively through impossible immigration laws to oppress them even more.
We need to secure our borders, W can do anything he wants with just a signing statement, so the way is there it's the will
yes we should. we need to call our state reps and demand they be enforced.
We need to secure the borders and control who and how many are coming thru. We need to know what their purpose is and how long they intend to stay. When their time is up they need to return to their own country.
Many who come are hard workers and contribute but there are far too many who come who do not have honorable intent and are thieves and thugs and drug dealers that we do not want or need in this country.
They need to want to assimilate to this country and stand for what this country believes. To come and pillage for their own good or to send back what is earned here does not do our economy any good.
If half of the illegal immigrants would stay and work as hard in their own countries as they do here maybe their countries wouldn't be sheet holes that they want to escape out from.
or
maybe Mexico should give it's land to the US and let our government take over control!!!
The safety and security of the United States citizens should be first and foremost before taking care of another country's refugees!!
The definition of good law is an objective law, one that follows what the American system is based on. The objective law must be based on individual rights. The current immigration law is a quota system, similar to laws for requiring a percentage of preferred racial minorities to enter a college or for employment, stopping others who are admitted by an arbitrary fact, skin color or cultural back round. US immigration law limits to only a small percentage immigrants from each nation, restricting only on arbitrary fact.
Mexico, and other South American nations are allowed a too small number relative to those that want to come a work here.
Educated Asian immigrants and their US employers must go through a complicated visa process to work as engineers here.
As such it violates the rights of individuals who want to enter the US to work. And WORSE IT VIOLATES the rights of businesses and employers to hire workers of their choice.
These laws VIOLATE individual rights.
Therefore they are immoral and not true to the American system.
Therefore we need immigration reform. Legalize immigration to as it was in the time of Emma Lazarus. She was the inscriber of the base of the Statue of Liberty " what she called The New Colossus and Mother of Exiles. "Give me ...your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...Send these the homeless, tempest tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the Golden Door!"
We need immigration reform because the rich want to get richer and they want the poor to get poorer.
One day I was thinking about this and this is what I came up with.
The rich are always looking for cheap labor.
The middle class pays high taxes.
So the rich doesn't have to and the poor can get everything for free.

That is why we need immigration reform.
