How many MORE deaths will it take??

Change Type Size Blame our leaders for dead residents

Somewhere in the world, there is a 3-year-old girl named Maya who will grow up without a father.

For this, I blame Sen. Jon Kyl and Rep. Ed Pastor and all our so-called leaders in Congress who have steadfastly refused to fix that standing joke we call federal immigration law.

Maya's father, Micheal Boulden, was chief of staff for the ASU Foundation until last month, when he died while on a Sunday morning bike ride. Meanwhile, Robert Chris Miller was killed early Sunday when a drunken-driving suspect ran a red light in Peoria. He was just 20 years old. advertisement

For this, I blame President Bush and Gov. Janet Napolitano and governors who steadfastly refuse to allow the National Guard at the border to actually guard the border.

These people have blood on their hands. The blood of Jason Okon, an Iraq war veteran who, police say, was stabbed on Feb. 2 by an undocumented immigrant living in his neighborhood. The blood of Laurie Lynn Lorenzen, a Gilbert mother who, police say, was killed Feb. 2 by an undocumented immigrant who ran a red light while fleeing police. And now, the blood of Micheal Boulden and Robert Miller.

Boulden, 37, was riding his bike on the shoulder of Pinnacle Peak Road near 42nd Street just before 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 18 when he was hit from behind. The driver didn't even slow down.

Last week, Phoenix police arrested Yesenia Angulo-Gastelum, 26, who is here illegally. She and her boyfriend were headed to work at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale when she hit Boulden, police said. Angulo-Gastelum "confessed to the hit and run, saying that she was scared that she was going to be deported, which is why she did not remain at the scene."

Four Seasons General Manager Tom Kelly said his records show Angulo-Gastelum, a hostess in one of the restaurants, is a legal resident. "We take absolute care in making sure that every t is crossed and every i is dotted because we want to absolutely comply with the law," he assured me.

It wouldn't much matter if he didn't. The Legislature refuses to crack down on employers who give jobs to people who aren't supposed to be here. Meanwhile, Immigration and Customs Enforcement does sweeps of jobsites only when the politicians need a PR boost.

Over in Peoria, Miller was killed just after 2 a.m. Sunday when police say Jocabed Dominguez-Torres, 22, ran a red light at 75th Avenue and Cholla and crashed into the car in which Miller was riding. Police believe she was drunk.

Dominguez-Torres is here illegally and had forged resident and Social Security cards, according to police. Yet Court Commissioner Kathleen Mead set her bond at $150,000. This, despite a new voter-enacted law that denies bail in cases such as this to those here illegally.

It seems she was only following court policy. A spokeswoman for Maricopa County Superior Court said commissioners cannot deny bond on the say-so of police or even the suspect. They must get word from an official immigration source, which is tough given that bail must be set within 24 hours of arrest and ICE takes weekends off.

But, hey, does it really matter? Since when are voters ever listened to anyway? It's as if we're afraid to enforce our own immigration laws yet unwilling to rewrite them.

Maybe someday, somebody can explain it all to a little girl named Maya who I suspect will want to know why her daddy had to die.

Maybe by the time she's old enough to ask, our leaders, the ones who could use some compassion and the ones who could use a backbone, will quit talking, finally, and fix this mess.

Answer:
Our leaders are to blame when any ILLEGAL alien criminal murders an American citizen. THEY DON'T CARE!

It is too easy to get here and there is no real teeth in getting them out of here. Too many people are killed because of gangs, drunk drivers and other acts of violence. This has got to stop!
Here here! What is it going to take for a president to take this situation seriously and put an end to the illegal immigration mess???
Irony: A child named Maya grows up fatherless due to a descendant of Mayans who is here illegally.
We don't count, and won't until its a member of the government, or their immediate family, who is killed or maimed by one of these invaders.
Still on the same problem, you want to get rid of all of them--both good and bad ones. The good ones are one of the last things saving our economy from collapse as so much remains affordable despite the rising inflation and wage stagnation. Food is still affordable because they work for less.

But if you'd like to continue with the "some are guilty so all are guilty" mentality and continue on a quest to deport all illegals, by all means do so. But in that case you and I need to turn ourselves in for rape and murder and stealing and every other crime under the law. Because you see, some Americans are rapists and murderers and thieves, and since they are guilty we are guilty also. What is good for one human is good for all humans.
DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS!
more than just 1 little girl
More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war, study says
By Jim Brown

(AgapePress) -- Illegal aliens are killing more Americans than the Iraq war, says a new report from Family Security Matters that estimates some 2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the U.S. The group says that number is more than 15 percent of all the murders reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the U.S. and about three times the representation of illegal aliens in the general population.

Mike Cutler, a former senior special agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (the former INS), is a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies and an advisor to Family Security Matters (FSM). He says the high number of Americans being killed by illegal aliens is just part of the collateral damage that comes with tolerating illegal immigration.

"The military actually called for the BORTAC team, ... the elite unit of the Border Patrol, to be detailed to Iraq to help to secure the Iraqi border," Cutler notes. "Now, if our military can understand that Iraq's security depends in measure on the ability to protect its border against insurgents and terrorists, then why isn't our country similarly protecting our own borders?" he asks.

"We are not five and a half years, nearly, after 9/11, and yet our borders remain open," the Center for Immigration Studies fellow observes. "We have National Guardsmen assigned on the border, but it turns out they are unarmed," he points out. "Their rules of engagement are very simple: if armed intruders head your way, run in the other direction."

This situation would "almost be comical if it wasn't so tragic," Cutler asserts. "If our borders are wide open, this means that drugs, criminals, and terrorists are entering our country just as easily as the dishwashers," he says.

The report from FSM estimates that the 267,000 illegal aliens currently incarcerated in the nation are responsible for nearly 1,300,000 crimes, ranging from drug arrests to rape and murder. Such statistics, Cutler contends, debunk the claim that illegal immigration is a victimless crime. "Then we even have another problem," he adds, "and that's the Visa Waiver Program."

The federal government's Visa Waiver Program enables nationals of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. According to the U.S. State Department website, the waiver program was established in 1986 with the objective of "eliminating unnecessary barriers to travel," stimulating America's tourism industry, and allowing the government to focus consular resources in other areas.

Cutler says the U.S. retains the Visa Waiver Program because the nation's travel, tourism, and hospitality industries want America's borders wide open. In other words, the former INS official contends, the nation's security is being compromised in the name of trade.

If the voters are not listened to (and I know alot of times they aren't), then what is your point in writing this "question," other than to enrage people about a problem that's been the political third rail since the founding of this country?

When will you quit complaining and actually do something about it like "The Minutemen Project" folks are?

Call the President, your governor, and your congressional representatives...but most of all...Quit talking, get on the border, and do your part.
gradjasan, what is wrong with you there is not suppose to be any rational or intelligent conversation on this site. Get with the program and just agree with what the questioner is asking. I'LL tell you. The nerve of some people.
These illegals would still have supporters in our government (and otherwise) even if they started mass lynchings of citizens. Is that what it will take to wake people up?
Agreed! If you don't think the Citizens of the US are being manipulated? Why is it that you never hear anything about all these killings on the main stream news...but what is one of the "Big" stories today? About how 100 orphans have been left because their illegal alien parents have been captured by ICE. Propaganda at it's best!
Tushe! I have to say that the street runs both ways. This is very unfortanate, but a friend of mine who married an illegal alien was separated from her husband by the government because he entered this country illegally. While her husband was in Mexico, he was murdered. Blugeoned to death. She has two small children by her husband who will never see their father again. So the tragedy is on both sides of the fence. Bottom line, the immigration system is broken. Someone needs to fix it. :(
