The N word. Have we become too precious?
On last night's BBC TV news, the fact that the N word was used in a reality TV show (big brother) came immediately after the news that 5 million black people in Africa are to die from aids next year. Have we lost any sense of priority in England today? Or is it just that we are being bullied by a very thin skinned minority group from Jamaica? .
I once called a thief an 'F N' in Cairo Road, Lusaka and everyone agreed with me. I was only just able to stop him being beaten up by passersby.
What the hell is going on in England? I think that we have totally lost all common sense and always give in to the most violent minority groups.

For the want of a better term, the 'PC left' have taken over, using the rights they have granted to minority groups, as a basis for controlling and oppressing the majority.
It is perfectly obvious, as used to be the case in more sensible times, that name calling should be handled at the social level, IE. as rudeness, bad manners, etc. What you don't do, is invoke the law into areas of social interaction. Why? Because it causes more problems than it solves, and creates frustration because people don't feel that they can say what they think, even if isn't socially acceptable. You really shouldn't use the law to control what people think and say. Excluding slander etc, of course.
By using the law, you may prevent healthy use of banter from breaking down barriers caused by differences, thereby, increasing tension. Men, in particular, have always used banter as a means of breaking down barriers.

The *N* word was derived form the Latin word meaning 'black', other derivatives are 'Negro' etc.
The *K* word that is commonly used in South Africa to insult 'Black people' or people 'of colour, stemmed from an Arabic word meaning 'Unbeliever'...
Words in themselves are not hurtful or harmful until they are used in a derogatory sense and association.
Just like you know that a 'b*tch' is in reality a female dog, you wouldn't call your own mother/wife/sister that because of the implications.

Lets grow up and give dignity and respect to all members of the human race. We are all fellow travellers on planet earth for a brief lifetime. Well I think that the N word has not been used so nicely in the past and that is why it is so frowned upon by every one. Yet, I do agree with you that the world has gotten WAY to politically correct. For example when the elderly did not want to be called elderly anymore because it was some how offensive, so people started calling them "chronologically gifted" as a joke on political correctness.
The world just needs to lighten up on some issues. Yet, the N word is an exception because if it was not I would not be typing in " N word".
The answer is simple, Afro Caribbean types can call each other names, Rap music is full of references to The word Niger! which i think is used has mild rebuke or even in situations a term of endearment!. Only when white people use it does it become a racist word!.
Equality in England is becoming slanted toward the minorities, Blacks can call whites pigs honkies and worse without fear of being charged with using offensive behaviour!. However should any white person use a remotely offensive words toward a minority and the full weight of the law can be thrown at that person for racism.
The only conclusion anyone can come too is that minorities are little more than cry babies while the majority are stoical saints!.

Even in the 1960s and 70s when racist terminology was much more freely used than it is now, the N word was taboo. Don't blame current social trends for this word's unacceptability. Blame the slavers who demonised the word in the first place, and the racists bigots who have perpetuated its derogatory meaning ever since.

About 60% of the population is brain dead and will accept being pushed about by what used to be minority ethnical groups but which now appear to be the majority.
