We are more racist, but we are also more open about being racist, so it's kind of 50-50 reason it seems that way.
But...esp against Turks Europeans are racist, for lots of reasons. I'm not saying that it's right or OK but that's the truth.

You can't generalize all Europeans or Americans just because of a soccer game. And who's to say that anyone can't be better than an American? Do you take into consideration the fact that there are Europeans of all nationalities? Or that anyone who's rooting for their favorite team could become defensive? You've got to look at the big picture.

Europeans don't trust the Islamic factions in Turkey. Not only that, the European countries are being inundated with alot of Islamic populations. If Turkey becomes part of the EU, that will open up the floodgates to Europe with alot of Islamic populations who have no problem with getting rid of democracy in the EU. Europeans have legitimate concerns with this issue. Just like the U.S people has legitimate concerns with open borders in the south of our country. In other words, Alot of it is also economic in nature, just as are the issues with our open borders with Mexico.
BTW, soccer in europe is insane. You can't simply generalize about all of europe based on soccer matches. That's like saying all Americans are like football audiences: stupid, drunk and nothing but a bunch of idiotic face painters.
I am not sure If I would call Europeans racist because things you have seen at a soccer match. I think Euros have a greater sense of national pride than Americans do but I do not think they are racists. Euros may have bias agaisnt different ethnic backgrounds but America's populations are much more segregated than those of Europe.
You are generalizing with the term Europeans and Americans.
As a non european, you shoudnt talk about their way of thinking or something. You have no idea what their history has been and how their mentalities have evolved. If they have a grudge agaist turkey, maybe its because the two nations have been clashing for a long time...
