I'm Mexican and I came to the U.S legally 15 yrs ago?

one my friend who is mexican got mad at me and told me I was racist against my own race, im not racist what happen is that I told her that I didnt think it was a good idea to give amensty to all the illegal mexicans that broke the law because it would not be fair for all of us mexicans that came here legally . I told her that it wasnt fair beause my mom, brothers and me waited almost 2 yrs and paid alot of money to get our green card and it wasnt easy it was a long process. so we waited all that time away from my dad and they can just come and jump the border and then get their green card with no problem. Is not fair at all. I do feel kind of pist off. Do you think im wrong here.

Answer:
I think you're absolutely right. My family came here close to 90 years ago, worked for an employer here in the U.S. to pay back their debt for coming here, suffered through the great depression, served in the military, and dealt with many difficult times to be here legally. Its an insult to those people to hand a card to an illegal and say "You broke the law, took a short cut, and demanded something from us that you didn't earn, but we want to reward you with citizenship, something generations before you respected and worked hard to earn"
Most Mexicans who are in the U.S. are here legally, no matter what these ignorants say.
No, you sound absolutely right to me.
no your not wrong your entitled to your own opinion.
No, you're right
You're wrong. It's fair. An illegal who came after the last amnesty in 1986 would already be here over 20 years with only the hope of becoming a citizen. Who knows how much longer they'll have to wait to participate in the American dream. You took the more expensive and easier way (if you can afford it). Should freedom be available only to those that can afford it?
BS!! I didnt read the whole thing is too long, but thats BS!
U must know someone that works at the embassy or ur parents were here in the 80's during the amnesty.
You are not racist for being obeying the laws of this country. As an American citizen, you're exercising your right to free speech. Personally, I agree with your position. I think giving amnesty to illegal aliens takes away from all of those who went through the legal process.
no that is the only way people should be aloud to come to this country is if they do it legally if u are illegal u should be deported!!
i feel very strongly on that and if u come to america learn to speak english we shouldnt have to learn spanish because you are from a different country that should be one of the laws to get a green card u should be able to speak english fluently

also why come to america all our jobs are going to mexico?
How is amnesty going to hurt you. ? I am a brown skin Mexican-American born here. It will not bother me at all if they get amnesty.
Most of the illegals are brown skin Indios. If you do not support them then you think you are better than them and you are a racist. Plus you have some hate for them.

Lots of people have had a hard life. Some people suffer more than others. This things can not be measured. There is always going to be someone who will say you did not work as hard as I did or you did not suffer as much as I did.
12 million illegal mexican immigrants .what part of ILLEGAL
isn't understandable? There ARE 12 million illegal Mexican immigrants in this country.the ones that can be counted. no telling how many other ethnic groups are here illegally.or maybe it's just that the government only keeps up with Mexicans?

Try not to be pissed.waste no time on anger. Either do something to help change this situation or let it run its course.

Congrats and welcome to America (cause you came in LEGALLY.)
I agree with you and I don't think most Americans have a problem with LEGAL immigrants...
i think you are 100% right. i think anyone should be able to come here, and i encourage them to, but i just wish they'd fill out the paperwork and do it RIGHT.
You are not wrong in thinking like that. Good for you and your family for coming to America the right way.
I agree with you. Check out the speech by President Millard Fillmore on immigration at http://www.millardfillmore.org/...
I'm Dominican, and it really makes me sad to know that there's people like you, cause I know a lot of your people and I have mad respect for mexicans, why? cause they have prove to me and a lot of people how brave they are when they come as wetbacks, and really achieves a lot of things, not everybody has the chance to come here as you did and I did: by plane, so to me you are out of yourself, and I am very glad, that we only can answer and ask questions in this web, cause I am pretty sure that I can not handle a poor minder person like you face to face.
When immigrants come into this country the legal way,you do not hear anyone complain, whether they are hispanic, asian or anglo, but as soon as illegals don't get their way they start crying racism against them, what's more, the mexicans coming here illegaly are not coming here to become part of this country, they want this country to become part of them, and no, you are not wrong, your feelings are the same as millions of immigrants that came here the legal way
1. You are American. Don't ever refer to yourself as Mexican again.
2. Favoring one color or race over another is racist, *so, your friend is the RACIST'!
3. Illegals usually replace Hispanics or Latinos for work, so if your friend is into economic suicide more power to him.
No, you are correct. Laws are for all people & it is unfair for a few or 15 million to write thier own laws. Good luck in the USA & may your family be blessed for the respect they have shown for the law.

According to immigration dept. there are around 1-1/2 times as many legal as illegal but illegals are growing faster.
In 2002 there were twice as many legals & now 1-1/2 times as many.
If you did It legally, your welcome here, period. And If your so called friend Is calling you a racist for coming here legally, you need to find another friend. Welcome to AMERICA,and good luck.
Pink, I am a US citizen. My parents came here legally from Mexico MANY years ago.It was much easier to come to this country back in those days. But now it is IMPOSSIBLE to come here legally.I have sympathy for those who must cross an invisible line, risk their lives, live in fear of being deported, in order to feed their families. Its great your parents came legally, I applaud them! But NOT all have that opportunity, and take desperate measures to come here, risking their very lives, in order to provide for their familes.I don't think your racist, but I do think you need to really see all sides of this issue. If you have ever visited the REAL Mexico, you would completely understand why they come here...
I don't think you're wrong. Your friend is though. Keep that in mind. And when your friend brings it up again, tell her if she doesn't like the U.S. laws, and policies, she is free to go elsewhere in the world. You can tell her a Native American said that.

You can also save this link of video clips in your favs, and show it to her.

You should be proud of yourself for upholding important principles and value. You should be proud that you uphold the laws of the land you're living and not break them like criminals and filth. Don't let those sh**ty creeps get you down. You've got dignity, they don't. They are dishonest creeps; you aren't. You can be trusted, and they can't be trusted. America can depend upon you to progress while they corrupt our nation and our laws. So, cheer up, stand tall, and celebrate.
stand your ground. it is not fair and you are not a racist for understanding the difference between right and wrong.
I think you are right. It has nothing to do with race, in any event.
you are nothing more than a coconut[white on the inside brown on the outside]

by the way my parents are legal immigrants and they feel VERY differently on this subject than you do
You are not alone.
.. yo tampoco estoy deacuerdo con la amnistia.. i think like you. that's not fiar for the legal ones
