I think you're absolutely right. My family came here close to 90 years ago, worked for an employer here in the U.S. to pay back their debt for coming here, suffered through the great depression, served in the military, and dealt with many difficult times to be here legally. Its an insult to those people to hand a card to an illegal and say "You broke the law, took a short cut, and demanded something from us that you didn't earn, but we want to reward you with citizenship, something generations before you respected and worked hard to earn"

You're wrong. It's fair. An illegal who came after the last amnesty in 1986 would already be here over 20 years with only the hope of becoming a citizen. Who knows how much longer they'll have to wait to participate in the American dream. You took the more expensive and easier way (if you can afford it). Lots of people have had a hard life. Some people suffer more than others. This things can not be measured. There is always going to be someone who will say you did not work as hard as I did or you did not suffer as much as I did.

According to immigration dept. there are around 1-1/2 times as many legal as illegal but illegals are growing faster.
In 2002 there were twice as many legals & now 1-1/2 times as many.

Pink, I am a US citizen.My parents came here legally from Mexico MANY years ago.It was much easier to come to this country back in those days.But now it is IMPOSSIBLE to come here legally.I have sympathy for those who must cross an invisible line, risk their lives, live in fear of being deported, in order to feed their families.Its great your parents came legally, I applaud them! But NOT all have that opportunity, and take desperate measures to come here, risking their very lives, in order to provide for their familes.I don't think your racist, but I do think you need to really see all sides of this issue.If you have ever visited the REAL Mexico, you would completely understand why they come here...
