Medi-cal for immigrant pregnant women.?
My girlfriend is 3 months pregnant. She lives in Mexico, but has a visa to enter the U.S. I'm a U.S citizen living in california and I want to bring her with me until the baby is born. Then I will return to mexico with her.
If she receives Medi-cal (for pregnancy purposes only), will it affect her immigration status in any way? I've heard that if she receives Medi-cal, her visa might get confiscated the next time she tries to enter the U.S, is that true??
Answer:
I don't understand why these people say you are having a free raid on the "American taxpayer".
How would the situation be different if she was a legal resident, non-working spouse of yours? You would still be the one paying taxes but nobody would argue that she doesn't deserve medical care, correct?
YOUR taxes would be paying for the attention to your baby. If there is a legal way of doing it, go ahead and do it. At least you are trying to do it on the open and asking the question. Good luck with it.
BTW, apologies for not giving an answer to your ACTUAL question, but thought it would be worthwhile to post my opinion.
Why bring her here for the U.S. citizens to have to pay for your baby. Why do you not pay for the doctor/hospital bills yourself?
immigrant=good
illegal alien=bad
Stop making Americans pay for illegal immigrants. The hospitals in Mexico are fine, go their and have the baby their. We have a bad enough problem as it is.
I don't know about uber-Liberal California, but in Kansas, if you don't have a SS#, you don't get state help. Period. Which is how it should be. Why should the citizens of California pay for her to have a baby? WTF are you thinking??
Why should we have to pay for her baby? She's not a citizen and we shouldn't have to pay for her costs!!!
Besides, WHY AREN'T YOU PAYING THE MEDICAL COSTS? YOU ARE THE FATHER AND SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES! HOW DARE YOU!
Come on, be honest - she wants to come here so the baby would be a citizen, right? Then she thinks that gives her a leg up on citizenship herself because the baby is a citizen, right?
I don't know about the VISA issue but what you are planning on is unfair to the US taxpayer!
yes it's true. go to mexico with her now. and let the baby be born there.
You're lucky you're talking about California, it's the welfare capitol of the world!! Bring all the foreigners you can find, California (Medical) has gobs of money and loves to pay for this sort of thing. Los Angeles' mayor is backing Hillary Clinton and everyone knows she's got lots of money, too!
Sorry that you have this problem and it is your problem and not ours, go back to Mexico and have your child there and pay for it there. What’s wrong with Mexico that you don't want your child born there, there are 18 million of you in this country so why don't you go back and take over your country and try to join the United States as a new state. We are going broke paying for things that we didn't do and are getting tired of it. Sorry if this seems harsh but you have to understand both me and my wife have worked for many years and have no children by choice and the tax burden on us is so heavy that we barely have enough left over to save for retirement and we live very lean... That’s why we are tired of paying for others who can't control themselves and expect others to foot the bill.
California has a more relaxed attitude toward the question that you have posed. See the following:
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-...
Like others who have already answered, your concept of gaining a "free ride" on the backs of the USA and their taxpayers is abhorrent and disgusting but it may nevertheless be legal.
If you had an ounce of responsibility to your fellow US citizens, you would pay the bill yourself and not expect to have the people of the State of California dig down into their pockets to pay into a system that is already bankrupt.
But you asked, and that's the answer.
Since when is an error of judgement on your part (pre-marital sex resulting in pregnancy) the responsibility of AMERICAN taxpayers? Especially since you claim to want to return to Mexico with her--but not until after the baby is born!
You claim to be an American taxpayer yourself--why would you want to encourage this for ANYbody? Just because the system is broken doesn't mean it's right to take advantage of it.
Show a little forthrightness... Pay for her medical expenses in MEXICO yourself. Marry her if you wish, and then if you want to come back to the states, help her apply for citizenship and follow the legal procedures set forth by America's legislature.
Be a man and step up to the plate and provide for your girlfriend and unborn child.
Expecting a free handout by the Welfare system is dispicable and makes you look really bad.
Besides and this is the funny part too, you will be expected to pay back every single dime to Medi cal as soon as she has the baby so in the long run you'll end up paying for it anyway!
That is unless your a total loser and insist she doesn't list you as the biological father on the babies birth certificate. Then your home free and won't have to give back the tax payers money.
Instead why don't you marry her, bring her over here to live permanently with you and help her become legal, have her added onto your medical plan and bring your little baby into the world with something of substance to offer him or her?
If you don't have medical coverage then get some and pay for it the best you can.
Do the right thing and the rewards will last you the rest of your life.
Do the wrong thing and you'll never hear the end of it.
Do it. Who gives a damn? I pay taxes and don't care. I won't see "baby born in Ca" deduction $10, if I'm helping some trailer park trash American Citizens get their food stamps, why not this woman. F - it.
I think it's not so much the Medical care here( although that is low) I think it is more of the reason having the child born here so it is a U.S. citizen by default. Keep her there, have the baby there, and improve Mexico.
YOU made the baby...YOU pay for it. We all know the motives behind having her have the baby here...free citizenship. Take responsibility for your own problems. I had to pay to have my child, you should have to too.
