No, they probably won't bother with one person. They would need to know if he is doing anything else illegal too such as working with false papers, using a stolen SSN, etc. If your ex-friend is, then try it. They MAY come out for him.
Just make sure you're doing it for the right reasons.

It really depends on their work load and resource availability. It is kinda like being pulled by the police for speeding and the officer getting a call to go attend to some other emergency.
They will not pick him up if he is not causing any trouble or involved in any high profile cases.
Might even pick you up for not reporting him sooner. All joking aside, they should send someone out, just as a follow up. You also might want to notify your local police Dept
