H-1b visa lottery: check cashed by USCIS on APR 25, still no notice as of MAY 15. Is that normal?

Hi, I'm asking this for my friend. His check was cashed by USCIS on APR 25 but he hasn't received any notice from USCIS as of today. Is that normal? Is there a phone number or any way to check the status of his H-1b application?

Yes, this is still OK. It is good if the check was cashed.

On May 11, 2007, the USCIS released a Public Notice regarding the pending H-1b receipts. I posted it here http://law-visa-usa.com/forum/viewtopic.

No, unfortunately, there is no way for him to check on the status. He will need to wait for either the Receipt notice (I-797) or the rejected packet (if his petition was not selected).
If you can get a copy/facsimile of the back of the cashed check, it should have the case receipt number. Then you can enter the case number in the online case status system at www.uscis.gov to get a printout that the case was received. good luck
