"lose a green card"?

Can someone who currently holds a work permit and has applied for a green card lose the green card by being convicted of DWI?

Answer:
This depends on several things, for example the language of the state law under which you were convicted, whether you have ever committed other crimes etc. There are crimes that make you ineligible for a green card and crimes that make you removable (two separate provisions of law). You should contact an immigration attorney who deals with criminal issues who can look at your court documents, the state law, your background and let you know where you stand. Good luck
yeah,,, of course,,, that is a criminal act,,,
First offense, no.

In many states a repeate offenders are elevated to the level of "agravated felony." For instance, in Texas a 3rd offense is an agravated felony. You can lose your Green Card and be deported for conviction of any agravated felony.
At the very least, it's a misdemeanor. Misdemeanors according to the law, are deportable offenses.
