I think they should all be documented forced on the books so that they are taxed fined put on a ten year restriction before they can file for citizenship then they go to the end of the list.
I mean a free pass for more people with no punishment is on its way.in 2009 or in 2011
hard working illegals do not know that if they wait patiently for 2 more years they will get better amnesty plan. and they will be larger in number ( estimated 30 million instead of current 16 million ). all they need to do is support Lou Dobbs to kill any immigration reform bill this year.
Stop calling people from countries other than the United States Americans. You 10 year olds learn about America as a continent for the first time and start an immature trend and decide you're going to change what citizens of the United States have been called for hundreds of years? Grow up.
I think we should focus on enforcement of our current laws, and create a better way of investigating and enforcing employment rules as well as housing, and let illegal aliens worry about their own deportation, .THEN if we need additional laborers we can bring in Legitimate applicants from all countries to a path to citizenship!

There is something MUCH more sinister in this bill than the amnesty part of it! They used amnesty as the hot button - in order to distract people from the REAL problem in this bill (which can be read in full online btw). We are being duped - the ol' turn right against left as usual, to DISTRACT US. Amnesty is only a smokescreen - to get the American people to not see the REAL problem in it. (Amnesty isn't their objective - they already knew the people wouldnt go for it! This is manipulation of information!)
* The bill, even when the amnesty part is revised, requires every American citizen to have the new American ID card. We will each have to go through Federal clearance, the same level as a US passport. We will not be able to get paid or have a bank account without this card. It's the equivelent of the 'papers' that everyone was issued in Nazi Germany, and I exaggerate not! (read on)
* There is something very under-reported in the works between the Bush administration, Canada and Mexico. It is called the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America. It is an extension of NAFTA, and its goal is expand our borders in order to protect us from terrorism, make trade across borders easier for the corporations, and MOST importantly force (YES FORCE) Mexico and Canada to privatize their OIL.
* After Katrina, Homeland Security contracted Haliburton to prepare hundreds of 'illegal immigrant detention and processing centers' for opening their doors. (google this please) There is room to house at least 1 million people; illegal aliens and God knows who else!
* Bush is holding this over Mexico's head, trying to force Mexico into agreeing on this Partnership in order to get the OIL.
*The Partnership is unconstitutional; it greatly inhibits our sovereignty in the US and in Mexico and Canada. It is for Big Money, who is driven by the Military Industrial Complex which is out to acquire OIL.
* Bush has based his war strategy on the PNAC (Project for a New American Century), which was written by Wolfowitz and Libby. (look it up - its all there!) It justifies pre-emptive strikes if there is enough 'evidence' to prove a threat to our resources. There are billionaires trying to secure the OIL in the world because our economy is petroleum based. They are willing to stop at nothing to do so!
* The same business people on the board of directors in the Mainstream Media are also on the board of directors in all the corporations that profit BIG TIME from Oil and War. The neocons and the new democrats answer to the War Profiteers, NOT the people. They are the majority of our elected officials! They are trying to take over our government, and if this Partnership deal goes through, America is DEAD.
* This is what they don't want us knowing so they don't report it on the news. They are purposefully keeping the PEOPLE in the dark! Whether it completely abandons an inclusive immigration reform or not the results will still be the same. This was already tried in the 1986 Immigration amnesty act in which 7 million illegal aliens were given the right to amnesty and become permanent residents with a green card and a future opportunity to be come citizens if they desired. We were promised many laws that would "fine" employers for hiring future illegals and that no more amnesites would be given and that anyone trying to come over the border would be detained and returned to their country of origin. Well none of those laws and rules were ever enforced and the first amnesty which was supposed to be the only amnesty gave rise to the now 20 million or more illegal aliens who came here between 1986 and 2007.
So nothing is going to be done to prevent it from happening again unless the American people rise up and "revolt" against their insensitive political leaders. The Americans will have to riot in the streets just as the blacks rioted in Los Angeles in 1992 and the govt gave into the "Black" demands of putting the cops on trial again for having beaten "Rodney King". The "Blacks" got the result that they wanted by force and riot not by letter writing and campaigning and voting in the next election.
So too that is the only way to solve the problem
Just as you say in your question that "Through Comprehensive and Humane treatment that penalizes but provides documentation. Well that was tried as I said in the 1986 "Amnesty Act' The act even forgave the illegals then the non payment of taxes that they had not paid during their years here working illegaly and not everyone had a less than minimum wage job. I had on my job illegals who had a good paying "union" job here in New York City and they did not pay taxes for years and their tax debt was forgiven.
So the humane approach was already tried but it did not work. There was also very little "penalizing" the employers who hired the illegals after the 1986 amnesty act until the present time of 2007.
Also "America" is synonymous with the term "U.S.
The name of the country on your "American passport" is called "United States Of America". That is the official name of our country.
Also in the "Pledge of Allegiance" it says:
I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TOTHE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
I certainly hope the government continue to work on this problem--I'm not an insensitive person, but by golly this is my country and the illegals should be deported and apply for a green card the legal way. These people are not stupid, they know very well how to play our government, they sneak in and give birth to children and know that we will not separate the family. Look people this is a serious problem and need the utmost attention. You think 12 million is a lot--do nothing and see what happens in four years, our population is bursting at the seam already. We have hungry and homeless Americans and have not solved their problems yet. Get real.
If it's like the Senate's pile of crap, I sure hope so. We have plenty of good laws now. We just need to enforce them! What compromise is needed?
What the heck is an "undocumented American?" Americans are citizens of America, dude! There isn't even any such thing as an "undocumented worker" since that makes it sound like the illegal alien criminals haven't done anything wrong. They only misplaced a piece of paper! That's insulting!
As for your comment about America not being synonymous with the US, you're WRONG! This is the "United States of America." This country is also called "America." That is different from the continent of "North America" and the continent of "South America."
As for a future bill, we don't need one - just enforce our current laws! For example, it is illegal to hire the illegal aliens. If we crack down on the employers and put them in jail, that will dry up the job market. The illegals will have to go home. It's simple!
No, but if you want it you should change your language. Whatever your 'rationale' you know it is inflamatory and that is no way to get a bill passed. The whole problem was that the bill wanted to deal with big business's problems and prioritize the problems of those who came illegally, but ignore the very real impact already felt by American citizens. And citizens is what Americans means to most.
