Did you see that an amendment to the senate bill is being proposed that would hugely increase h1b visas?
It looks to me like they have decided there are even more profits to be made from driving down educated citizen wages as much as they have done to blue collar wages. I agree with SOME raise in h1b - to 100,000, but that is already less than the bill already has. This would be on TOP of the bills green cards already stated, which is a huge increase over what we give out now.

Just another attempt to lower our wages with out care of the quality of the employees coming in. I workin Medicine, and many of those coming over here bought their college degrees or come from dubious colleges. I see so many who fail to get a job that their degree should get and still stay here working jobs done by the high school graduate. I wonder why the government don't kick them out. I would like to remind everyone, there is a ban on Philipino nurses, because a group of Philipino officials aided their nurses to cheat on an exam so they could work in the US. THere is no assurance of quality when people graduate from a college in a developing nation. Even our board exam doesn;'t make assurance. My Philipino coworkers tell me all the tricks their fellow countrymen use to cheaton these exams, and allegedely with thehelp of their government. THe true reason why their is a shortage of engineers and medical workers is that the industry refuse to increase the wages and so college students won't study for these jobs. After they artificially cause a shortage, they ask the government to import laborer. If you notice, because of the new law in California putting a minimum limit on how many nurses are in the hospitals and difficulty of importing nurses from the Philipines the hospitalals were force to raise the salaries of nurses. Now college students decided nursing is a good carreer. THats how capitalism works. If there is a shortage give the people raise so people would want to do the job. Plus do we want underqualified nurses working?
I read an article that said the politicians are lining up to be able to be the one to say they killed this pile of bilge. I think they need to go back and work on this and keep the interest of AMERICANS at the forefront of their mind. The old saying "Who we elect we can unelect"

the no cap for phd and masters degrees is only a no cap for people who got the PHD or masters from a university in the USA. Although ... and this is one of the things that is pervasive throughout the bill that I do not like.
The director of Homeland Security can make exceptions to just about antyhing in this bill, at any time, and no one can tell him he cant.
