Greencard Permanent Resident Card..........?
I have never been to jail or ever been a conviction of a felony.
I am a Norw
I am married to a American, and we have been married since the summer of 2002 (5years).
There is so much paperwork and it only seem to move back and forth,it's all about knowing about which EXACT FORMS you need to file for because nobody really bothers to tell you that.
1. How long does it take before my status will be removed from
CONDITIONAL Permanent Resident to a CITIZEN?
Is there any form that I need to apply for,I may have yet left to file for something, and they may be waiting to hear from me at the INS.
2. When will I be able to receive and apply for a American Passport? What form do I file for?
I know it's legal and possible to have a dual citizenship, which I am going to take advantage of.
I am originally a Norwegian Citizen.
Answer:
Did you and your husband file Form I-751, to remove your conditional status? That needed to have been done within 90 days preceding the second anniversary of your receiving conditional permanent resident status. See the following USCIS website for more information:
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/m...
If you have already filed Form I-751 and petitioned and been approved to remove your conditional status, you should already have permanent Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status. Once you have permanent LPR status, you are eligible to apply for US citizenship, once you have met all of the requirements - citizenship is not automatic; you must apply to naturalize (Form N-400). Once your application has been approved, you must take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States as part of a formal naturalization ceremony in order to finalize your new citizenship.
See the following USCIS website for more information:
http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/m-476...
Once you are a naturalized US citizen, you are eligible to apply for a US passport. The passport application form is DS-11. See the following Department of State website for more information:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/fir...
You have to go from CONDITIONAL Permanent Resident to Permanent resident and then after 3 years you go from permanent resident to citizen ( through a process).
You will be able to apply for a passport once you are a citizen.
