What are the common problems that US citizens have when immigrating to the UK?
Answer:
I don't understand if you're asking for information on actual immigration/visa procedures, or if you're asking for info about adjusting to the culture, etc.
As I can't answer any visa questions without some background info, I'll stick to the second. A lot of Americans think the British are like Americans with different accents and maybe a bit more polite, but that's quite a fallacy. British culture is very different from American culture, and a lot of people find the difference difficult to adjust to. I would suggest to anyone thinking of immigrating to another country that they take an extended trip thre first to learn more about the culture.
It is somewhat difficult to become a UK citizen even if you're from America. The best route to take is to get a job with an international office in the UK. This is more common and realistic than most think. Also, if you have a teaching degree you can be recruited to teach in the U.K. Google it.
One problem is a criminal record, you will have serious problems if this is the case.
Another problem may be your country of birth, but if you are a US citizen they may overlook this.
