i really do not think race is an issue except with the illegals and their supporters.
There's no such race as a hispanic, they are white, black & colored just like everywhere else.
Now it simply means someone from south america with latin spanish as their first or familiar language.
Same reason why we went "negroes" to "colored" to "black" to "African-American."
Same reason we went from "Orientals" to "Asians."
Same reason we went from "fireman" to "fire fighter" and "policeman" to "police officer."

First off it is not a war on immigration. It is against illegal immigration. And why you are passing judgement on the states lets look at southern mexico, and your problems with letting illegals come in.
When Illegals come to this country they will be exploited by employers that will pay them a much lower wage, and not any benefits. Than the illegals go to the hospital for free and the taxpayers end up paying the bill.
Mexicans came legally to this country in the time frame to which you refer and they also had enough respect to honor their host country by learning English. Unlike today's illegals who demand all sorts of entitlements!!!

I know this going to tick you off but hispanics ARE caucasion according to scientific standards. They are not a race all their own. They just like to think they are. So I guess to make them feel "special" they changed the definations to please them.
If "brown" is a "race" then what are Arabs or people from India or mixed races? They aren't "hispanic". That's like me saying "Russian" is a race.

You have your facts incorrect. There is no way Mexican American were call white. They are a mix race Indian and Spanish no white there at all. The Spanish have moor in them so where are you getting the white race. I 've heard the word Mexican all my life. Porto Rica's have a light and a dark people and Cuba do also. But mexican is just what it is a mix race of people. So are black Americans and Islanders. They are the brown, we have yellow, black, red and white.
Not every family in America today is derived from ancestors who where here during the "Native American Holocaust". Countless came after and still come today, so that arguement is shot down.
