Is Mexico known by welcoming Lebanese and Syrian Immigrants to Mexico since centuries ago ?

Orgullo Hispano.- Carlos Slim Helú (born January 28 , 1940 in Mexico City ) is Latin America 's richest man (and #3 in the world) according to Forbes . His wealth comes from his businesses in the communications industry, Teléfonos de México and América Móvil telecommunication companies.

His father was Julián Slim Haddad ( Yusef Salim Haddad ), a Lebanese Maronite Christian, who as a teenager fled to Mexico in 1902 , escaping the harsh military rule of the Ottoman Turks . His father and two of his older brothers arrived at the Mexican port of Tampico , making their way to Mexico City where, in 1911 , Julian established a dry goods store called La Estrella del Oriente and took a gamble and bought up some prime real estate in the city core-a shrewd move as it turned out.

'That was courage,' says Slim Helu, 'He taught me no matter how bad a crisis gets, Mexico isn't going to disappear, and that if I have confidence in the country, any sound investment will eventually pay off.'

Answer:
yes, and during ww2 they had Nazi's there. and for the last 2 years i hear there have been tarriest in mexico, where do you think the drug lords have learned to chop heads of of people?
And,,,???
I don't know. Apparently it is since you wrote a story about it. Shakira is Lebanese also. Maronite Christians are seriously discriminated against in the Middle East. And the Lebanese are successful business owners throughout Latin America, but I still don't understand your point here.
WOW
I'm surprised from what you said and its very good to know this story. I'm Lebanese and my brother is a manager engineer working in Nissan in Mexico. Hopefully this place bring luck and business for everybody but I'm not shore if Mexico is known by welcoming Lebanese and Syrian Immigrants since centuries ago but what I know is The President of Mexico goes to the border to welcome back Mexicans living in the US and coming home. but he has to mention that the police are out in force to "protect returning Mexicans.. from Mexican bandidos".If the president cant protect the returning Mexicans so he's not going to protect any other culture.
Mexico has always welcome immigrants..There are large, Polish, German, Spanish, Chinese, and Jewish settlements in Mexico. They even have private schools for the families of these immigrants..Many escaped wars in Europe through out history. My husband is Catalan, and both his grand parents fled to Mexico during the Spanish war.He is a Mexican citizen and considers it his culture.
Yes Lebanese-Mexicans are one of the most successful and wealthy communities in Mexico.
They are welcome because they are very respectful with Mexican nationals.
Most Lebanese in Mexico are well educated, respected and successful business men and beautiful women.
Most Catholics like the Jews who also mostly converted to Roman Catholicism.
Mexico is know by welcoming all world...
