Fiance K-1 Visa?
Answer:
There are several forms that need to be completed and you don't want to miss one, or make a mistake, because that delays the process. I've come to realise that an immigration lawyer is your best bet because they know the ins and outs of the law, and that's all they do everyday, all day. You also have the option of looking in your yellow pages for Immigration Services. They would be cheaper than a lawyer, and you may need to check out their background first to make sure you're not ripped off, but they're cheaper than lawyers. If you find a good one, you won't regret it.
Your first step is filing the I-130 ($190) if you file after you're married; or I-129F ($170) if you file before you're married. Your lawyer would be able to advise you on which method is more beneficial to you depending on your situation. You would want to file the following forms along with this to speed up the process:
Biographic Information, $0
I-765 - Employment Authorization, $180
Then you must also take care of finger printing, last time I checked that cost $70.
Side note: does his price of $1800 include the fees for filing the forms?
If you dont have a difficult case (overstay from a previous visa etc) you can do it on your own and save your money
You can find the procedure step by step here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index....
Good luck
