That's a very ideal scenario you laid out and I would agree with you. If only we were allowed to discriminate between good and bad people when applying amnesty. Unfortunately, it's one size fits all. For that reason, I say alien go home and come again some other day, through the front door, please knock, and enter legally.
i don't care how sever or minor the law is they broke, they should not have broke the laws in any way. if you think they don't get welfare then you haven't seen it yet. i have a friend who works for the welfare dept and she said illegals do come in using their anchor baby's to get welfare, wic and what ever free bee they can get.

Illegal is just that illegal/criminal!! I don't care who you are. The laws of the USA must be respected and illegal/criminals need to be prosecuted and deported make to where they came from.

No, for 1 reason and one reason only. People come here from all over the World, they file all the proper paper work, they get whatever documentation they need etc... they do everything by the book and that's because they respect this country and really want to come here. The only people who seem to have a problem coming here and doing this the correct way is the Mexicans, just for that, they deserve to go home till they can do it the correct way.

I came here wihen I was 5 in 1989 on a tourist visa and my parents overstayed. I still dont have a visa either and i'm mad they ruined my status. Now I can't go back and start over again because i'd be barred. sucks...
All of this means absolutely nothing until we close the borders to all but legal traffic. Just because I have held a job illegally for 7 years does not mean that I should just be granted amnesty or citizenship or even a visa. Rewarding those who short cut the system sends a horrible message to our kids, other countries and those legal immigrants who worked hard and long to become a citizen of the US. Some reform may be needed to assure that all get an equal opportunity to become a citizen but giving amnesty or citizenship to those who skipped the entire rules process sends a really bad message and if you need proof look into the 80s and that fiasco way of dealing with what would now be considered a small illegal immigrant problem.
I understand that many of the illegal immigrants did not ask to come here and have lived their entire life her but mass amnesty or citizenship is just wrong. As for the reform bill the H1B visa's finished me off, it is an insult to our people and our math and science field professionals and not only imports high tech professionals but actively recruits high tech professionals at the expense of the American math and science field professionals and future professionals. No protection is offered for the American workers, employers who hire illegal immigrants are once again getting off with a light slap on the wrist and enforcement is weak at best.
yes and just like some of my family members theirs a lot of people like that. my parents have been here for 17 years payed taxes for over 10 years, never committed a crime...right right besides being here illegally.own 2 houses and a body shop, only had 3 kids and never even thought of the idea of welfare.they are still waiting for some kind of reform. i think its unfair to just say pick up your stuff and get out when we contribute to this country fair and square. thats why it gets me pissed when they accuse all immigrants for the actions of some. so if some us citizens support war does that mean all of you do?
