How many illegal immigrants do you know and do you live under a rock? I'm Mexican-American and know many illegal families that work under the table or use a fake social to work, they have their babies under "emergency medical", they feed their babies and infants with Wic and their older children with food stamps. Why should we cut off all government assistance? Do you mean all government assistance that would in any way shape or form aid an illegal (because I would be with you on that one). I was born and raised in the Napa Valley where over half of the field workers are illegal. They bring the wages down for legal immigrants and citizens that might other wise be doing the job. The reason it's so hard to find a citizen picking grapes is because the illegals have lowered the wages. We try to only work in jobs that could sustain our household without renting out our garages. Do you really believe that the farmers hiring illegals are passing the savings onto the consumer? They're making their pockets fatter and have been for years. Don't worry though, harvesters are taking over so that manual labor wont be needed in most fields. When that happens what are we going to do with all the illegals left without a job? Are they going to move to Canada and ruin that country too?
You do realize that most illegal immigrants do not make 150,000 per year correct? Your illegal immigrants must be the H1B visa overstays. Your experience with illegal immigration is the exception and not the rule but none the less we have every right as a country to decide how many immigrants are allowed in and that illegal immigrants be denied access if that is what we choose. When you own your own country you get to make the rules.
As for illegal immigrants using government assistance you know it exists and you also know it exists in large quantities but you are going to use an H1B visa overstay as your example because it suits your purpose. I am not saying that we should not consider some reform but we (our citizens), not illegal immigrants make the rules and if non citizens can not follow those rules they know where the door is.
