I'm so tired of hearing from employers that the reason they hire the illegals is that they can't get any workers. What the real truth is is that can't find any Americans that will work for the pennies that they would like to pay.
Lets face facts here, a business owner wants to cut costs and maximize profits. If they have the choice, an American that wants, lets say $15. per hour, plus vacation/sick days, health benefits, 401K contributions, plus the employer having to pay taxes, social security contributions, and workmen's comp insurance, OR pay an illegal $10. per hour and that's it.....what do you think they are going to do?
The only way to stop this madness with the illegals is to heavily fine/imprison employers that hire illegals. Once the jobs dry up, the illegals will go home!
Honestly, years ago, working in construction was a good job that paid very well. Most of the workers were white and made great money. Now, because so many mexicans will work for far less, the wage for those workers has decreased quite a bit. The same with factory jobs. Factorys are paying the same as they did 20 years ago, because 20 years ago it was typical to make $7 to $8 per hour and the majority of the workers were white. Now factories pay $7 per hour and its mostly mexicans working there. I am the last person in the world that you can consider prejudice. I am not passing judgement, just stating what I have observed over the years. The change in the work force. I think mexican people are very hard working good people that are looking for a chance to change their lives. I happen to be in love with a mexican man who happens to be illegal, very much, but facts are facts. What used to be good paying jobs dont pay well anymore because of the situation with the mexicans willing to work for less.
They used to. I did it as a teenager for a few years. Of course, then the wages were [quite a bit] higher.

There are blacks, asians, whites, people of every industry that works in these fields.
